Abstract

Along with the development of the era, the film as a communication medium to be rife used to convey the message. Especially a powerful documentary of facts and data can be an effective medium for delivering a message and influence the mindset of the audience to agree with the concept that was made. Documentary film “Perahu Harapan Cilincing” is a documentary film about the portrait of the life of the fishing community precisely in the fishing village of Cilincing, kelurahan Cilincing, North Jakarta. Various kinds of difficulties faced by fishermen do not break their enthusiasm to continue to fight for the welfare of their families. The author as an image editor applies editing techniques from Sergei Eisenstein. From the various editing techniques available, Montage is very helpful to project every shot or scene into a sequence so that the storyline is more dynamic and easy to understand the audience. Of the five types of Montage, the authors apply the two of them: Metric Montage referring to the length of the image with this to increase tension generated from the scene, by cutting shot 1-2 seconds following the knock backsound. Rhytmic Montage refers to the continuity arising from the arrangement of images in a shot based on a scene and taking different pictures in each frame in the scene. Keywords: Documentary Film, Video Editing, Perahu Harapan Cilincing. Seiring perkembangan zaman, film sebagai media komunikasi menjadi marak digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan. Terutama film dokumenter yang kuat akan fakta dan data bisa menjadi salah satu media yang efektif untuk menyampaikan sebuah pesan dan mempengaruhi pola pikir penonton agar setuju dengan konsep yang dibuat. Film dokumenter Perahu Harapan Cilincing merupakan film dokumenter tentang potret kehidupan masyarakat nelayan tepatnya di perkampungan nelayan Cilincing, kelurahan Cilincing, Jakarta Utara. Berbagai macam kesulitan yang dihadapi nelayan tidak mematahkan semangat mereka untuk terus berjuang demi mensejahterahkan keluarganya. Penulis sebagai seorang editor mengaplikasikan teknik editing Montage dari Sergei Eisenstein. Montage sangat membantu untuk memproyeksikan setiap shot ataupun scene ke dalam satu sequence agar alur cerita lebih dinamis dan mudah dimengerti khalayak. Dari lima jenis Montage, penulis mengaplikasikan dua diantaranya: Metric Montage yang mengacu pada panjang-pendeknya gambar dengan hal ini untuk meningkatkan ketegangan yang dihasilkan dari adegan, dengan melakukan cutting shot 1-2 detik mengikuti ketukan backsound. Rhytmic Montage mengacu pada kesinambungan yang timbul dari susunan gambar dalam shot berdasarkan adegan dan pengambilan gambar yang berbeda pada setiap frame dalam adegan.
