Abstract

One of the biggest problems faced in the production department of Palm Oil Mill (POM) is low throughput that hampering the effectiveness and efficiency of the Fruit Fresh Bunch (FFB) processing to Crude Palm Oil (CPO). A proper and proven system in maintaining and taking care of machinery structuredly and sistematically that can be implemented in POM is Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The aims of this research was to find out the positive impact of TPM implementation to increase the mill throughput by calculating the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) before and after the implementation of TPM. To find out the main problem, pareto chart is used while fishbone analysis is used to find out the root cause. Results showed that OEE before the implementation of TPM was 61%, while the OEE of world class companies indicate more than 95%. Research has been capable of finding out the root causes of the ineffectiveness of the operation of a set of equipment called sterilizers. After implementeation of TPM, the OEE was improved to 81%. Keywords: Total Productive Maintenance, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Palm Oil Mill Salah satu permasalahan terbesar yang dihadapi oleh Pabrik Kelapa Sawit adalah rendahnya throughput sehingga mengurangi efektifitas dan efisiensi pengolahan Tandan Buah Segar (TBS) menjadi Crude Palm Oil (CPO). Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sistem perawatan dan pemeliharaan yang baik, terprogram dan terstruktur antara lain melalui implementasi Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh positif implementasi TPM untuk menigkatkan throughput pabrik. Efektifitas akan diukur dengan cara melakukan perhitungan Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) sebelum dan setelah implementasi TPM. Untuk mengetahui masalah utama, diagram pareto digunakan sedangkan untuk mengetahui akar masalah digunakan analisa tulang ikan. Nilai OEE sebelum implementasi TPM sebesar 61 persen, sedangkan capaian OEE perusahaan kelas dunia adalah lebih besar dari 95 persen. Kajian telah dapat melihat akar permasalahan yaitu tidak efektifnya kinerja salah satu mesin yaitu sterilizer. Setelah implementasi TPM, ditemukan adanya peningkatan OEE menjadi 81 persen.
