Abstract

This applied project aims to describe the implementation of cinematographic shooting techniques by the camera operator in the production of the short film Sampai Pada Akhirnya to enhance emotional expression and visual storytelling. The project employed literature study and field observation as the primary methods to support the development of the screenplay, storyboard, shot list, and technical production planning. The implementation was carried out throughout the preproduction, production, and post-production stages by applying the Five C's of Cinematography, including camera angle, composition, close up, continuity, and cutting. The results demonstrate that the application of cinematographic techniques such as close-up, medium shot, long shot, eye level, high angle, low angle, rule of thirds, and framing effectively strengthened the characters' emotional expressions, enhanced visual meaning, and maintained story continuity. Production challenges, including changes in lighting intensity, environmental audio disturbances, location transitions, and continuity issues, were successfully addressed through technical adjustments, team coordination, and continuous shot evaluation. Therefore, the implementation of cinematographic shooting techniques by the camera operator played a significant role in improving the film's visual quality, strengthening its dramatic narrative, and effectively conveying the themes of struggle, hope, and sacrifice presented in the short film Sampai Pada Akhirnya. Keywords: Camera Operator, Camera Shot Techniques, Cinematography, Five C's of Cinematography, Short Film Penelitian karya aplikatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi teknik pengambilan gambar oleh juru kamera dalam produksi film pendek Sampai Pada Akhirnya guna membangun penyampaian emosi dan pesan cerita melalui bahasa visual. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses perancangan dan produksi meliputi studi kepustakaan dan observasi lapangan sebagai dasar penyusunan skenario, storyboard, shot list, serta perencanaan teknis produksi. Selanjutnya, implementasi dilakukan pada tahapan pra produksi, produksi, dan pasca produksi dengan menerapkan konsep Five C's of Cinematography, yang meliputi camera angle, composition, close up, continuity, dan cutting. Hasil karya menunjukkan bahwa penerapan berbagai teknik sinematografi, seperti close up, medium shot, long shot, eye level, high angle, low angle, rule of thirds, dan framing, mampu memperkuat ekspresi emosional tokoh, memperjelas makna visual, serta menjaga kesinambungan cerita. Berbagai kendala produksi, seperti perubahan intensitas cahaya, gangguan audio, perpindahan lokasi, dan menjaga kontinuitas gambar, dapat diatasi melalui penyesuaian teknis, koordinasi tim, serta evaluasi hasil pengambilan gambar secara berkala. Dengan demikian, implementasi teknik pengambilan gambar oleh juru kamera berperan penting dalam mendukung kualitas visual, memperkuat dramatik cerita, serta membantu menyampaikan pesan mengenai perjuangan, harapan, dan pengorbanan tokoh utama dalam film Sampai Pada Akhirnya.
