Abstract
This study analyzes public opinion on the pros and cons of the animated film Jumbo as a children's film through Instagram comments. The film Jumbo (2025) sparked debate due to imaginative elements that some groups consider potentially deviating from children's faith (aqidah). The research uses a quantitative approach with content analysis method and positivism paradigm, employing Sven Windahl's Uses and Effect theory. The population consisted of 1,358 comments on @cinecrib's Instagram post (April 16, 2025). A sample of 309 comments was determined using the Yamane formula and randomly selected. Inter-coder reliability test using the Holsti formula yielded a value of 0.80 (reliable). Results from 300 analyzed comments showed: 168 positive opinions (57%), 84 neutral opinions (32%), and 48 negative opinions (11%). Positive opinions dominated, containing praise for animation quality and pride in local work. Negative opinions expressed theological criticism regarding potential deviation from faith (aqidah). The study concludes that public opinion toward Jumbo tends to be positive, reinforcing the Uses and Effect theory that audience interaction with media produces emotional, cognitive, and critical effects. Film Jumbo (2025) menuai perdebatan karena unsur imajinasi yang dianggap sebagian kalangan berpotensi melencengkan aqidah anak. Pendekatan penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan metode analisis isi dan paradigma positivisme. Teori utama yang digunakan adalah Uses and Effect dari Sven Windahl. Populasi penelitian adalah 1.358 komentar pada unggahan Instagram @cinecrib (16 April 2025). Sampel sebanyak 309 komentar ditentukan dengan rumus Yamane dan dipilih secara acak. Uji reliabilitas antar coder menggunakan rumus Holsti menghasilkan nilai 0,80 (reliabel). Hasil penelitian dari 300 komentar yang dianalisis menunjukkan: opini positif 168 komentar (57%), opini netral 84 komentar (32%), dan opini negatif 48 komentar (11%). Opini positif mendominasi, berisi pujian terhadap kualitas animasi dan kebanggaan terhadap karya anak bangsa. Opini negatif berupa kritik teologis terhadap potensi pelencengan aqidah. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa opini publik terhadap film Jumbo cenderung positif, memperkuat teori Uses and Effect bahwa interaksi audiens dengan media menghasilkan efek emosional, kognitif, dan kritis.
