Abstract
The Tanjung Selor–Batas Bulungan Road is part of the national road system with a strategic function, serving community activities, logistics, and the transportation of production outputs, making it susceptible to flexible pavement deterioration. This study aims to identify the types and severity levels of pavement distress, evaluate pavement condition ratings, and formulate appropriate maintenance and rehabilitation recommendations based on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Surface Distress Index (SDI) methods. The analysis results indicate that pavement distress is predominantly surface-related, with light to moderate severity levels. Based on the percentage of total distressed area, the most dominant distress types are raveling at 27.621% and alligator cracking at 13.221%, with the highest quantity, extent, and severity of distress concentrated within the STA 0+000–0+400 segment. The average PCI value of the studied road section is 74, which falls into the Fair category, while the average SDI value is 11, classified as Good. Based on these results, most road segments are recommended for routine maintenance, preventive treatments on segments exhibiting cracking and pothole distress, and minor rehabilitation on specific segments to maintain pavement performance and service life. Keywords: Flexible Pavement, Pavement Distress, Pavement Condition Index (PCI), Surface Distress Index (SDI) Ruas Jalan Tanjung Selor – Batas Bulungan merupakan bagian dari jaringan jalan nasional dengan fungsi strategis yang dilalui oleh kegiatan masyarakat, logistik dan hasil produksi, sehingga berpotensi mengalami penurunan kondisi perkerasan lentur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan tingkat kerusakan perkerasan jalan, mengevaluasi tingkat kerusakan, menilai kondisi jalan dan menyusun rekomendasi penanganan yang sesuai berdasarkan metode Pavement Condition Index (PCI) dan Surface Distress Index (SDI). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa jenis kerusakan jalan didominasi oleh kerusakan permukaan dengan tingkat keparahan ringan hingga sedang. Berdasarkan persentase terhadap total luas kerusakan, kerusakan paling dominan adalah pelepasan butir sebesar 27,621% dan retak kulit buaya sebesar 13,221%, dengan jumlah, luas, dan tingkat keparahan kerusakan paling signifikan berada pada segmen STA 0+000–0+400. Nilai rata-rata PCI pada ruas jalan penelitian sebesar 74 yang termasuk kategori Cukup Baik, sedangkan nilai rata-rata SDI sebesar 11 yang termasuk kategori Baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, sebagian besar segmen jalan direkomendasikan untuk dilakukan pemeliharaan rutin, penanganan preventif pada segmen yang memiliki kerusakan retak dan lubang hingga rehabilitasi minor pada segmen tertentu guna mempertahankan kinerja dan memperpanjang umur layanan perkerasan jalan.
