Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between self-confidence and self-disclosure in the use of Instagram second accounts among female students of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Mercu Buana. The second account phenomenon is widely used by students, particularly women, as a platform to express themselves more freely and securely compared to their main accounts. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 105 active female students who own an Instagram second account, selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using the Self-Confidence Scale and the Self-Disclosure Scale, both of which had undergone validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson’s correlation and simple linear regression. The correlation analysis produced an r value of 0.971 with p < 0.05, indicating a very strong positive relationship between self-confidence and self-disclosure. Regression analysis showed that self-confidence effect 94.3% to self-disclosure. These findings indicate that higher levels of self-confidence are associated with a greater tendency for students to be open on their Instagram second accounts. This study provides practical implications for social media users to manage selfdisclosure wisely, as well as theoretical contributions to understanding the role of psychological factors in social media behavior. Keywords: self-confidence, self-disclosure, second account, Instagram, female student Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara kepercayaan diri dan keterbukaan diri pada penggunaan second account Instagram di kalangan mahasiswi Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Mercu Buana. Fenomena second account banyak digunakan mahasiswa, terutama perempuan, sebagai sarana mengekspresikan diri secara lebih bebas dan aman dibandingkan akun utama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel berjumlah 105 mahasiswi aktif yang memiliki second account Instagram, dipilih menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Self-Confidence Scale dan Self-Disclosure Scale, yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan korelasi Pearson dan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil uji korelasi menunjukkan nilai r = 0,971 dengan p < 0,05, menandakan adanya hubungan positif yang sangat kuat antara kepercayaan diri dan keterbukaan diri. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan diri memberikan pengaruh sebesar 94,3% terhadap keterbukaan diri. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kepercayaan diri, semakin besar kecenderungan mahasiswi untuk terbuka di second account Instagram. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi praktis bagi pengguna media sosial untuk mengelola keterbukaan diri secara bijak, serta memberikan kontribusi teoritis dalam memahami peran faktor psikologis terhadap perilaku bermedia sosial.
