Abstract

Nowadays, rapid information flow is a necessity in every human activity, especially in the works. Every employee is demanded to complete their work quickly and efficiently. It is due to plenteous application of information technology. Information technology becomes a necessity and needs of companies to run their businesses, including PT Indosat as one of the largest telecommunication company in Indonesia. Almost every business activity in PT Indosat takes advantage of information technology. In telecommunications infrastructure construction, especially in fiber optic cables construction in PT Indosat, the use of information technology is limited to the use of software such as Microsoft Office Excel, and other supporting software and also email for coordination and correspondence. In actual implementation, those technologies has disadvantages, they are the high possibility of data duplication, and, the constraints of speed and ease in obtaining and conveying information about the project progres. As a solution, "Monitoring Proyek Outside Plant (OSP) Kabel Serat Optik" app is designed to overcome these problems. This app enables Project Managerand Site Supervisor convey information of the projects, and all stakeholders in the project obtain project progress information. This app is web-based and and can be accessed through a browser in the computer or smart mobile phone that UBUANA connected 10 internet. the Keywords: fiber-optic cables, monitoring, project progress, a web-based Tren penyebaran informasi cepat dewasa ini merupakan sebuah kebutuhan dalam setiap kegiatan manusia terutama dalam dunia kerja. Setiap karyawan dituntut agar dapat menyelesaikan pekerjaan mereka dengan cepat dan efisien. Hal ini tidak terlepas dari tren tingginya pemanfaatan teknologi informasi saat ini. Pemanfaatan teknologi informasi menjadi suatu keharusan dan kebutuhan dalam sebuah perusahaan dalam menjalankan usahanya tidak terkecuali PT Indosat sebagai salah satu perusahaan telekomunikasi terbesar di Indonesia. Hampir seluruh aspek dalam kegiatan usahanya PT Indosat selalu memanfaatkan teknologi informasi. Dalam kegiatan pembangunan infrastruktur telekomunikasi terutama dalam kegiatan pembangunan kabel serat optik di PT Indosat saat ini, pemanfaatan teknologi informasi hanya terbatas pada penggunaan perangkat lunak Microsoft Office seperti Excel dan perangkat lunak pendukung lainnya serta email untuk koordinasi dan korespondensi. Dalam pelaksanaannya pemanfaatan teknologi tersebut mempunyai kekurangan yaitu tingginya kemungkinan duplikasi data yang tidak sesuai serta kendala kecepatan dan kemudahan dalam mendapatkan dan menyampaikan informasi progres proyek-proyek pembangunan. kabel serat optik. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, maka dirancang aplikasi Monitoring Proyek Outside Plant (OSP) Kabel Serat Optik. Aplikasi ini dapat memungkinkan para pihak yang terkait dalam pembangunan proyek-proyek OSP kabel serat optik untuk mendapatkan atau menyampaikan informasi persentase progres proyek OSP. Aplikasi ini berbasis web sehingga dapat diakses melalui browser dimana saja selama komputer atau telepon genggam pintar pengguna terhubung ke internet.
