Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has significantly impacted various aspects of life, including the field of communication, particularly broadcasting. Video editing applications such as CapCut have become popular and serve as essential tools for students to explore their creativity. This research aims to examine the influence and extent of the impact of CapCut features on the editing creativity of students in the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Mercu Buana. This study is based on the theory of technological determinism, which states that technological development shapes human thought patterns and behavior. Features in CapCut, such as transitions, audio, and templates, are considered tools that facilitate the creative process. A quantitative approach with a survey method and a positivism paradigm was applied in this research. A total of 66 Broadcasting students from the 2021 batch at Universitas Mercu Buana participated as respondents. Primary data collection was conducted through questionnaires using a total sampling technique. The analysis results show that the regression equation Y = 3.185 + 0.736X indicates a positive influence of CapCut features on editing creativity. The correlation value of 0.766 reflects a strong relationship between the two variables, with a determination coefficient of 58.6%, indicating that most of the students' editing creativity is influenced by the use of CapCut features. Hypothesis testing also supports the existence of a significant effect. Keywords : CapCut Features, Editing Creativity, Broadcasting Students Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi membawa dampak signifikan pada berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk dalam dunia komunikasi, khususnya broadcasting. Aplikasi pengeditan video seperti CapCut saat ini popular serta menjadi sarana penting bagi mahasiswa untuk mengeksplorasi kreativitas mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh serta tingkat pengaruhnya dari penggunaan fitur CapCut terhadap kreativitas editing mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi, Universitas Mercu Buana. Penelitian ini mengacu pada teori determinasi teknologi, yang menyatakan bahwa perkembangan teknologi dapat membentuk pola pikir dan perilaku manusia. Fitur-fitur dalam CapCut, seperti transisi, audio, dan tamplate, dianggap sebagai alat yang memfasilitasi proses kreatif. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei dan paradigma positivisme diterapkan dalam penelitian ini. Sebanyak 66 mahasiswa Broadcasting angkatan 2021 Universitas Mercu Buana berpartisipasi sebagai responden. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner dengan teknik total sampling. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa persamaan regresi Y = 3,185 + 0,736X mengindikasikan adanya pengaruh positif dari penggunaan fitur CapCut terhadap kreativitas editing mahasiswa. Nilai korelasi sebesar 0,766 mencerminkan hubungan yang kuat antara kedua variabel, dengan koefisien determinasi 58,6% yang menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar kreativitas editing mahasiswa dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan fitur CapCut. Uji hipotesis juga mendukung adanya pengaruh yang signifikan. Kata Kunci : Fitur CapCut, Kreativitas Editing, Mahasiswa Broadcasting
