Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran mengenai makna hidup pada ideolog terorisme yang sedang menjalani masa hukuman di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan High Risk Kelas IIA Pasir Putih Nusakambangan. Makna hidup dalam penelitian ini dimaknai dari dua teori yaitu teori dari tokoh Victor E. Frankl dan Arie W. Kruglanski. Makna hidup yang dicetuskan oleh tokoh Victor E. Frankl dikenal sebagai “logoterapi”, sedangkan menurut Arie W. Kruglanski dikenal sebagai “signifikansi”. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga orang laki-laki narapidana terorisme yang menjalani masa hukuman di penjara dan memiliki peran sebagai ideolog terorisme. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa ketiga subjek memiliki makna hidup yang sangat personal dan dapat dijelaskan melalui konsep logoterapi. Narapidana terorisme dalam penelitian ini aktif mencari makna dalam kehidupan mereka, meskipun dalam kondisi terbatas, mereka melakukan hal ini melalui berbagai aktivitas seperti beribadah, membaca, introspeksi diri, dan merenung. Selain itu, konsep pencarian signifikansi memberikan kerangka yang kuat untuk memahami mengapa individu terdorong untuk terlibat dalam terorisme. Adanya ideologi sebagai sumber signifikansi, peran signifikansi dalam radikalisasi, kekerasan sebagai alat untuk mencapai signifikansi serta penyangkalan dan rasionalisasi telah dianalisis dalam penelitian ini. This study aims to obtain an overview of the meaning of life in terrorism ideologues who are serving a sentence in Lapas High Risk Kelas IIA Pasir Putih Nusakambangan. The meaning of life in this study is interpreted from two theories, namely the theory of Victor E. Frankl and Arie W. Kruglanski. The meaning of life coined by Victor E. Frankl is known as “logotherapy”, while according to Arie W. Kruglanski it is known as “significance”. The subjects in this study are three male terrorism convicts who are serving time in prison and have a role as ideologues of terrorism. The results revealed that the three subjects have a very personal meaning of life and can be explained through the concept of logotherapy. The terrorism inmates in this study actively seek meaning in their lives, although in limited conditions, they do this through various activities such as worship, reading, self- introspection, and contemplation. In addition, the concept of significance-seeking provides a strong framework to understand why individuals are driven to engage in terrorism. The existence of ideology as a source of significance, the role of significance in radicalization, violence as a tool to achieve significance as well as denial and rationalization have been analyzed in this study.
