Abstract

Engine oil plays an important role in reducing friction between moving components in the engine. Proper replacement intervals and usage greatly affect engine reliability and service life. With this change in engine oil change intervals must be carefully considered, because the use of longer intervals requires closer monitoring of oil quality and engine condition. The methods used in this research include testing oil samples, namely viscosity, metal additive, total base number (TBN), contamination and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and examining engine conditions, namely fuel consumption, valve clearance and compression pressure at operating hour periods of 125 hours, 250 hours, 375 hours and 500 hours. The results of the analysis of these parameters show that the oil sample values, namely viscosity, tend to decrease from 13.48 cSt to 11.56 cSt with a minimum target of 11.45 cSt, Fe content increases to 11 ppm and engine conditions, namely valve clearance in cylinder number three reaching 0.48 mm and compression pressure decreasing from 31 kg/cm2 to 28 kg/cm2 . Based on these results, Sakai 15W40 DH1 oil cannot be determined to extend the replacement interval at 500 hours. Although the oil remains within the established standard range and the engine performance conditions can still work optimally. Keywords: Lubricants, Viscosity, Contamination, Total Base Number, FTIR Oli mesin berperan penting dalam mengurangi gesekan antara komponen-komponen bergerak dalam mesin. Interval penggantian dan penggunaan yang tepat sangat berpengaruh terhadap keandalan dan masa pakai mesin. Dengan adanya perubahan interval penggantian oli mesin ini harus dipertimbangkan dengan cermat, karena penggunaan interval yang lebih lama memerlukan pemantauan yang lebih ketat terhadap kualitas oli dan kondisi mesin. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi pengujian sampel oli yaitu viskositas, kandungan logam, total base number (TBN), kontaminasi dan fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) serta melakukan pemeriksaan terhadap kondisi mesin yaitu konsumsi bahan bakar, celah katup dan tekanan kompresi pada periode jam pengoperasian yaitu 125 jam, 250 jam, 375 jam dan 500 jam. Hasil analisis parameter-parameter tersebut menunjukkan bahwa nilai sampel oli yaitu viskositas cenderung menurun dari 13.48 cSt menjadi 11.56 cSt dengan target minimal 11.45 cSt, kandungan Fe meningkat hingga 11 ppm dan kondisi mesin yaitu celah katup pada silinder nomor tiga mencapai 0.48 mm serta tekanan kompresi menurun dari 31 kg/cm2 menjadi 28 kg/m2 . Berdasarkan hasil tersebut oli Sakai 15W-40 DH1 belum dapat ditentukan untuk dilakukan perpanjangan interval penggantian pada 500 jam. Meskipun oli tetap dalam rentang standar yang ditetapkan dan kondisi performa mesin masih dapat bekerja secara optimal. Kata Kunci: Pelumas, Viskositas, Kontaminasi, Nilai Basa Total, FTIR
