Abstract
PT XYZ. A private company in the automotive sector is facing significant problems in transporting and moving materials on an industrial scale. The existing problem is the application of conveyor design using the VDI 2221 method and the impact of the conveyor on increasing productivity in steering stem production. In this context, the research aims to design a conveyor tool by applying the VDI 2221 method to reduce the workload in steering stem production. In the design process, emphasis was placed on meeting technical standards, operational reliability and increasing productivity, particularly focused on steering stem production. The engineering design method is adopted as a basis, involving analysis and synthesis steps in design development, with stages including task clarification, concept design, form design, and detail design. After applying the VDI 2221 method in the conveyor design process, 3 variants were obtained, of which the highest value was variant 1 with a value of 7 and you can be sure of getting a reliable design because it is based on calculations and designs that have been made and the results of technical calculation analysis show that the conveyor can be driven by a motor 0.5 kW of electricity at 1450 rpm, using a 1875.85 mm long V-belt transmission, which can reduce the workload in the steering stem production process. Keywords: Conveyor, Material Handling PT XYZ. Sebuah perusahaan swasta di sektor otomotif yang menghadapi permasalahan signifikan dalam pengangkutan dan pemindahan material dalam skala industri. Masalah yang ada yaitu penerapan desain konveyor dengan metode VDI 2221 dan dampak konveyor terhadap peningkatan produktivitas dalam produksi steering stem. Dalam konteks ini, penelitian bertujuan merancang sebuah alat conveyor dengan menerapkan metode VDI 2221 untuk mengurangi beban kerja pada produksi steering stem. Dalam proses perancangan, penekanan diberikan pada pemenuhan standar teknis, kehandalan operasional, dan peningkatan produktivitas, khususnya terfokus pada produksi steering stem. Metode perancangan teknik diadopsi sebagai dasar, melibatkan langkah-langkah analisis dan sintesis dalam pengembangan desain, dengan tahapan yang mencakup pengklarifikasian tugas, perancangan konsep, perancangan wujud, dan perancangan detail. Setelah diterapkannya metode VDI 2221 dalam proses perancangan conveyor dapat 3 varian yang dimana nilai tertinggi yaitu varian 1 dengan nilai 7 dan dapat dipastikan mendapatkan desain yang handal dikarenakan berdasarkan perhitungan dan desain yang sudah di buat dan hasil analisis perhitungan teknis menunjukkan bahwa conveyor dapat digerakkan dengan motor listrik 0,5 kW pada putaran 1450 rpm, menggunakan transmisi sabuk-V panjang 1875,85 mm, yang dapat mengurangi beban kerja pada proses produksi steering stem.
