Abstract

This study aims to describe the communication between parents and children in accompanying children who because of the Covid-19 pandemic must do learning from home. In the process, students have difficulty in learning due to poor signals and teacher readiness in preparing good material so that students are less motivated to learn. Likewise with the unpreparedness of parents in providing assistance, given the background of parents who are not educators. This study uses Alfred Schutz's phenomenological theory. According to Alfred Schutz, the task of phenomenology is to connect scientific knowledge with everyday experience, and from activities where experience and knowledge originate. In other words, basing social action on experience, meaning and awareness. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study of communication between parents and children in accompanying children to learn online during the Covid-19 pandemic. The informants in this study were the parents of the Tzu Chi Love Elementary School students and their children. The interview used was via telephone. The results of the study found that each stage of the process of interpersonal communication between parents and children in accompanying children to learn during the Covid-19 pandemic has an important role. This is because parents are aware that by continuing to interact and communicate, they can learn the child's character and reach a common understanding of how to learn well and how to get children excited about learning again. And as for the advice from the researchers, considering that elementary school children are still vulnerable and have difficulty concentrating, then in their daily life they must be filled with positive activities, Keywords: parent-child communication, mentoring, phenomenology, learning Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan komunikasi orang tua dan anak dalam mendampingi anak yang karena pandemi Covid-19 harus melakukan pembelajaran dari rumah. Adapun dalam prosesnya siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar akibat signal yang kurang baik dan kesiapan guru dalam menyiapkan materi yang baik sehingga murid kurang termotivasi untuk belajar. Begitu juga dengan ketidaksiapan orang tua dalam melakukan pendampingan, mengingat latar belakang orang tua yang bukan sebagai pendidik. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Fenomenologi Alfred Schutz. Menurut Alfred Schutz tugas fenomenologi adalah menghubungkan antara pengetahuan ilmiah dengan pengalaman sehari-hari, dan dari kegiatan dimana pengalaman dan pengetahuan itu berasal. Dengan kata lain mendasarkan tindakan sosial pada pengalaman, makna dan kesadaran. Penelitian ini adalah menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi fenomenologi mengenai komunikasi antara orang tua dan anak dalam mendampingi anak belajar daring selama pandemi Covid-19. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah orang tua murid Sekolah Dasar Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi serta anak. Wawancara yang digunakan menggunakan via telp. Hasil penelitian menemukan setiap tahapan dari interaksi dan komunikasi antar pribadi antara orang tua dan anak dalam mendampingi anak belajar selama pandemi Covid-19 memiliki peran penting. Hal ini dikarenakan orang tua sadar bahwa dengan terus melakukan interaksi dan komunikasi, mereka dapat mempelajari karakter anak dan mencapai pemahaman bersama mengenai cara belajar yang baik dan cara membuat anak kembali semangat belajar. Dan adapun saran dari peneliti ialah mengingat anak-anak sekolah dasar masih rentan dan sulit berkonsentrasi, maka dalam keseharian haruslah diisi dengan kegiatan-kegiatan positif, Kata Kunci : Komunikasi orang tua dan anak, Pendampingan, fenomenologi, belajar.
