Abstract
In complex network environments, managing and scaling Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) can be a complicated task. VLANs allow for logical separation and traffic management within a network, enhancing efficiency and security. However, as the number of VLANs grows in a network, the overhead of transmitting VLAN information can affect overall network performance. VTP (VLAN Trunking Protocol) pruning mode automatically eliminates the transmission of unnecessary VLAN information to switches that do not require it. This can reduce network overhead and improve performance. This study aims to analyze the performance of VLAN networks when using VTP pruning mode. The author will explore the concepts, benefits, and impacts of using VTP pruning mode. Additionally, the author will create testing scenarios using Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as throughput, delay, and packet loss. The obtained performance results will be used to evaluate the effects of VTP pruning on VLAN network performance. Keyword: VLAN Network, VTP, Pruning, Quality of Services Dalam lingkungan jaringan yang kompleks, manajemen dan skalabilitas VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) dapat menjadi tugas yang rumit. Vlan memungkinkan pemisahan dan pengaturan lalu lintas jaringan secara logis, meningkatkan efisiensi dan keamanan. Namun, ketika jaringan tumbuh dengan jumlah Vlan yang besar, overhead pengiriman informasi tentang Vlan dapat mempengaruhi performa jaringan secara keseluruhan. Mode VTP pruning secara otomatis menghilangkan pengiriman informasi Vlan yang tidak diperlukan ke switch-switch yang tidak memerlukannya. Hal ini dapat mengurangi overhead jaringan dan memperbaiki performa. Penelitian ini, bermaksud menganalisis performa jaringan Vlan saat menggunakan mode VTP pruning. Penulis akan mengeksplorasi konsep, manfaat dan dampak penggunaan mode VTP pruning. Selain itu, penulis akan membuat skenario pengujian menggunakan parameter QoS (Quality of Services) throughput, delay, dan packet loss. Hasil performa yang di dapat akan digunakan untuk mengevaluasi efek VTP pruning terhadap kinerja jaringan Vlan. Keyword: Jaringan Vlan, VTP, Pruning, Quality of Service
