Abstract

Eye health disorders are still not considered as important as body health, even though the eye is the most important organ of the body as a recipient of visual information. It is important for parents to educate children about eye health from an early age by teaching them to avoid activities that can damage the eyes. Through picture story books, it is easier for parents to educate children about eye health because there are visuals that can make it easier for children to understand not only based on writing but through pictures. The purpose of this design is for children to get a source of information about eye health that is packaged through illustrations in addition to increasing interest in reading in children, this can also help children to learn and know various things related to the eye. Therefore, the concept of this picture story book uses a composition of images and shapes that are suitable for children by using varied colors and simple illustrations for easy understanding. Keywords: eye health, illustration, picture story books, early childhood, education Gangguan kesehatan mata masih dianggap tidak sepenting kesehatan tubuh, padahal mata merupakan organ tubuh yang paling penting sebagai penerima informasi visual. Penting bagi orang tua untuk mendidik anak tentang kesehatan mata sejak dini dengan mengajarkan mereka untuk menghindari kegiatan maupun aktivitas yang dapat merusak mata. Melalui buku cerita bergambar, orang tua lebih mudah mengedukasi anak tentang kesehatan mata karena terdapat visual yang dapat memudahkan anak untuk memahami, tidak hanya berdasarkan tulisan tetapi melalui gambar. Tujuan dari perancangan ini agar anak mendapatkan sumber informasi tentang kesehatan mata yang dikemas melalui ilustrasi selain dapat meningkatkan minat baca pada anak, hal ini juga dapat membantu anak untuk belajar dan mengetahui berbagai hal yang berhubungan dengan mata. Oleh karena itu, konsep buku cerita bergambar ini menggunakan komposisi gambar dan bentuk yang sesuai untuk anak-anak dengan menggunakan warna yang variatif dan ilustrasi yang sederhana agar mudah dipahami.
