Abstract
The need for high-speed communication and large capacity in the field of telecommunications is currently experiencing a very rapid development. especially the development of internet-based services. The service needs of the community today are data (internet), voice (telephone), and video (streaming) services. Transmission line technology using optical fiber is a technology that provides high bandwidth. Fiber optic technology to overcome bandwidth problems to be able to address community needs is the Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON). Seeing the development and high demand for internet services, with the increasing FTTH network owned by PT MNC Kabel Media, the need for a Fiber To The Home (FTTH) access network with Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology to meet the demands of today's internet service needs . One parameter to test the feasibility of a standardized FTTH network system from ITU is the link power budget. In the results of mathematical calculations with the link power budget test parameters, the Prx value is -24.83432 dBm. From the calculation results prove the value of the detector sensitivity is -28 dBm, where the value of power receive (Prx) is according to the ITU standard with a receiving power of -28 dBm.
