Abstract

This study purposes to define the correlation between emotional intelligence with impulsive buying on early adult student users of Shopee online application at x university. The sampling of the study uses accidental sampling with the total subject as many as 302 students. The measurement of this study is an emotional intelligence scale from Djalim with 0,866 reliability coefficient Cronbach alpha and The Impulsive Buying Tendency Scale from Verplanken and Herabadi that have been modified by Novia with 0,905 reliability coefficient Cronbach alpha. The data analysis used in this research was spearman correlation analysis. The result showed that there is a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence and impulsive buying r= -0.618; p =0.000 which means this study indicates that the higher emotional intelligence score received then the impulsive buying score is lower and vice versa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan kecerdasan emosi dengan pembelian impulsif pada mahasiswa dewasa awal pengguna aplikasi belanja online di universitas X. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik accidental sampling dengan jumlah subjek sebanyak 302. Alat ukur pada penelitian ini adalah skala kecerdasan emosi dari Djalim dengan koefisien reliabilitas Cronbach alpha 0,866 dan The Impulsive Buying Tendency Scale dari Verplanken dan Herabadi yang dimodifikasi oleh Novia dengan koefisien reliabilitas Cronbach alpha 0,905. Analisis data dengan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa kecerdasan emosi berhubungan signifikansi negatif terhadap pembelian impulsif sebesar r = -0,618; p =0,000. Artinya semakin tinggi kecerdasan emosi maka semakin rendah pembelian impulsif begitu pula sebaliknya. Kata kunci: kecerdasan emosi, pembelian impulsif online.
