Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship of self efficacy with the adjustment of new students at University X. The sample amounted to 341 new students from all faculties with sample selection using purposive sampling technique. This research uses two instruments, namely the Self-Efficacy Scale and the Self-Adjustment Scale. Data obtained using Pearson correlation, aided by SPPS 20 for windows. From the results of the study it is known that the correlation coefficient (r) is 0.737 and the significance value is 0.000 (p <0.05), which indicates that there is a significant positive relationship between self efficacy and adjustment. This can be interpreted that the higher self efficacy, the higher self-adjustment, and vice versa, the lower self efficacy, the lower adjustment. Keywords : self-efficacy, adjustment, new students Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan self efficacy dengan penyesuaian diri mahasiswa baru di Universitas X. Sampel berjumlah 341 mahasiswa baru dari seluruh fakultas dengan pemilihan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling purposive. Penelitian ini mengunakan dua instrument yaitu Self-Efficacy Scale dan Skala Penyesuaian Diri. Data yang diperoleh menggunakan korelasi Pearson dengan bantuan SPPS 20 for windows. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,737 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara self efficacy dan penyesuaian diri. Hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa semakin tinggi self efficacy maka akan semakin tinggi penyesuaian diri, begitu pula sebaliknya, semakin rendah self efficacy maka semakin rendah penyesuaian diri.
