Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between perceived anonymity and self-disclosure on Twitter users. The research method used is quantitative approach with accidental sampling method of data collection. This study used 446 samples as respondents (M = 19.50, SD = 7.633) with an age range of 14-45 years and consisted 81.4% were women and 18.6 were men. Used instruments of Perceived Anonymity Scales by Hite, Voelker, & Robertson which had 5 items and Self-Disclosure Revised Scales by Wheeless had 16 items. The results of this research showed that Spearman correlation analysis results obtained a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.204 and a significant value of 0.000. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between perceived anonymity and self-disclosure on Twitter users. Keywords: perceived anonymity, self-disclosure, Twitter users Penelitian ini bertujan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara persepsi anonimitas dengan keterbukaaan diri pada pengguna Twitter. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data insidental sampling. Penelitian menggunakan 446 responden (M = 19.50, SD = 7.633) dengan rentang usia 14-45 tahun dan terdiri dari 81,6% perempuan dan 18,6% laki-laki. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen Perceived Anonymity Scales oleh Hite, Voelker, & Robertson yang terdiri dari 5 aitem dan Self-Disclosure Revised Scales oleh Wheeless yang terdiri dari 16 aitem. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil analisis korelasi Spearman diperoleh koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar -0,204 dan nilai signifikan sebesar 0,000 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara persepsi anonimitas dengan keterbukaan diri pengguna Twitter.
