Abstract
Individual who experience negative events sometimes focus on problems that make them ruminate things. However, there are also people who see from a different perspective, so they are able to self-reflect. This study aims to describe a person's internal dialogue along their cognitive processes when addressing the events of broken home by writing. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis method. The study involved seven subjects experiencing broken home, which consist of five women and two men. The data obtained are from texts of their writing during four days training in a University in Jakarta. The result showed that seven subjects were able to do internal dialogue during the cognitive process by reconstructing the events they had experienced. They who were able to do internal dialogue will process it cognitively which is one of the self-evaluation methods that has been proven for each subject in shaping self-concept and self-development. Keywords: Internal Dialogue, Cognitive Process, Qualitative, Content Analysis, Broken Home Individu yang mengalami peristiwa negatif terkadang fokus dengan permasalahan hingga membuat dirinya ruminasi. Namun, ada juga individu yang melihat dari perspektif berbeda sehingga mampu melakukan refleksi diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dialog internal dalam proses kognitif seseorang ketika menyikapi peristiwa retaknya keluarga yang dilakukan dengan menulis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Subjek penelitian berjumlah tujuh orang yang pernah mengalami peristiwa retaknya keluarga dan subjek terdiri dari lima perempuan dan dua pria. Data diperoleh dari teks tulisan subjek yang mengikuti pelatihan selama empat hari di salah satu universitas swata Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketujuh subjek mampu melakukan internalisasi dialog ketika proses kognitif berlangsung dengan merekonstruksi kembali peristiwa yang pernah mereka alami. Individu yang melakukan dialog internal akan memprosesnya dalam kognitif yang merupakan salah satu metode evaluasi diri yang terbukti bermanfaat untuk masing-masing subjek dalam membentuk konsep diri dan pengembangan diri.
