Abstract
Desalination plant is one system that functions to support the operation of the power plant, especially to ensure the availability of water that will be used to produce steam. Desalination is a process to reduce salt content (TDS / Total Dissolved Solids) in sea water to a safe level to be used in the Steam Power Plant system. The desalination plant cannot be ruled out and its reliability and continuity must be maintained so that it can provide sufficient water supply for the needs of the power plant. Therefore the Desalination plant is equipped with a series of automatic control systems which consist of sensors, controllers, and control rooms to support the reliability of its operations. One of them is to control the last stage desalination plant level using the closed loop dick system where level control uses LCV (Level Control Valve) and feedback from Level Transmitter, but the use of this control system has not been able to maintain the stability of the last stage level so that the oscillating level values up to 6%, besides that the change in the opening value of the oscillating actuator also causes damage to the actuator piston. After analyzing the instability of the last stage level control on the desalination plant due to inadequate control of the PI to catch up with the response to the specified set point, and not be able to accommodate interference from changes in load and disturbance resulting in oscillations. Based on the PID control design based on Ziegler-Nichols and feedforward methods, Kp = 200,304 is obtained; Ti = 10.272 and Td = 2,568. This control system has met the speed and stability of a good response with T constant data = 2.4 seconds, Time settling = 60 seconds, Time delay = 5.136 seconds, and small overshoot at 5.88% at 9.616 seconds.. Keywords : Desalination Plant, Sensor, Transmitter, Close Loop, Feedforward Control, PID Desalination plant merupakan salah satu sistem yang berfungsi untuk menunjang operasional PLTU, khususnya untuk menjamin tersedianya air yang akan dipergunakan untuk memproduksi uap. Desalinasi adalah proses untuk mengurangi kandungan garam (TDS/Total Dissolved Solids) pada air laut (sea water) sampai pada level aman untuk dipergunakan dalam sistem PLTU. Desalination plant tidak dapat dikesampingkan dan harus dijaga kehandalannya dan keberlangsungan operasinya agar dapat menyediakan suplai air yang cukup untuk kebutuhan PLTU. Oleh karenanya Desalination plant dilengkapi dengan serangkaian sistem kontrol otomatis yang terdiri dari sensor–sensor, kontroller, serta ruang pengendali (control room) guna menunjang keandalan operasinya. Salah satunya pada pengontrolan level last stage desalination plant yang menggunakan sistem kontol loop tertutup dimana pengendalian level menggunakan LCV (Level Control Valve) dan feedback dari Level Transmitter, akan tetapi penggunaan sistem kontrol ini belum dapat menjaga kestabilan level last stage dengan baik sehingga nilai level berosilasi hingga 6%, disamping itu perubahan nilai pembukaan dari aktuator yang berosilasi juga menyebabkan terjadinya kerusakan pada piston aktuator. Setelah dianalisa ketidakstabilan pengendalian last stage level pada desalination plant disebabkan pengontrolan PI yang tidak memadai untuk mengejar respon terhadap set point yang ditentukan, dan tidak dapat mengakomodasi gangguan dari perubahan load dan disturbance sehingga terjadi osilasi. Berdasarkan hasil rancangan kontrol PID berdasarkan metode Ziegler- Nichols dan feedforward diperoleh nilai Kp = 200.304; Ti = 10.272 dan Td= 2.568. Sistem Kontrol ini sudah memenuhi kecepatan dan kesetabilan respon yang baik dengan data T constant = 2.4 detik, Time settling = 60 detik, Time delay = 5.136 detik, dan overshoot yang kecil di 5.88% pada 9.616 detik.
