Abstract

ABSTRAK Pada saat ini kebutuhan akan mesin pendingin atau AC (Air Conditioner) sangat diperlukan di masyarakat. Teknologi mesin pendingin sangat berpengaruh terhadap kehidupan modern dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan kenyamanan hidup, namun juga sudah sampai pada esensial penunjang kehidupan manusia. Mesin pendingin adalah suatu alat yang digunakan untuk memindahkan panas dari dalam ruangan ke luar ruangan. Mesin pendingin yang paling banyak digunakan saat ini adalah mesin pendingin sistem refrigerasi dengan kompresi uap yang memiliki empat komponen utama yaitu kompresor, kondensor, evaporator dan katup ekspansi. Selain itu alat ini juga membutuhkan fluida kerja yang disebut dengan refrigeran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan variasi bukaan katup ekspansi termostatik agar performa refrigerasi pada trainer AC central menjadi optimal. penelitian dilakukan dengan memvariasikan jumlah aliran massa yang masuk ke evaporator dengan memutar adjuster katup ekspansi termostatik tertutup dan berlawanan arah jarum jam (0, 1, 3, 5, 7 putaran) untuk mendapatkan efek refrigerasi, kerja kompresi dan COP optimal. Dari penelitian ini didapat performa sistem refrigerasi terbaik pada kondisi katup ekspansi pada settingan 5 putaran terbuka yang memiliki nilai kerja kompresi rendah yaitu 37,5 kJ/kg dan nilai COP tertinggi yaitu 4,9. Cooling machine technology is very influential on modern life in improving the quality of life and comfort of life, but also has reached the essential supporting of human life. Cooling machine is a device used to move heat from the room to the outside of the room. The most widely used cooling engine today is a refrigeration compression refrigeration system with four main components, namely the compressor, condenser, evaporator and expansion valve. In addition this tool also requires a working fluid called refrigerant. The purpose of this study is to vary the thermostatic expansion valve openings so that the refrigeration performance of the central AC trainer becomes optimal. The research was conducted by varying the amount of mass flow that enters the evaporator by turning the thermostatic expansion valve adjuster closed and counter-clockwise (0, 1, 3, 5, 7 rounds) to get the effect of refrigeration, compression work and optimal COP. From this study the best performance of the refrigeration system is obtained on the condition of the expansion valve in the 5 open rotation setting which has a low compression work value of 37.5 kJ / kg and the highest COP value of 4.9.
