Abstract

PT. XYZ is one of the company that does mineral processing of gold ore with annual bullion product. Heap leach was the mineral processing method selected by company. The heap each process start with ore that stacked to height of 3-5meters and irrigated with cyanide as lixiviant. In this process, the daily production data was collected based on daily sampling activity. Spot sampling was selected as a method to collect the sample from off flow heap. Company policy restrict the %error of sampling at maximum 5% level. Based on data observation and continuous improvement plan, that data given by spot sampling shall be analyze to reduce %error to accomplish company policy. DMAIC method was selected as a tool to provide information regarding two sampling methods differences. The result of study shows that composite sampling provide better sigma level 12% relatives thus provide better data production compared to reconciliation than spot sampling. Key word : DMAIC, heap leach, spot sampling, composite sampling, sigma. PT. XYZ merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang mengolah bijih emas secara mandiri hingga menjadi batangan emas. Proses pengolahan emas yang dilakukan oleh PT XYZ menggunakan metode heap leach, dimana bijih ditumpuk sedemikian rupa untuk kemudian disiram dengan menggunakan cairan sianida. Pada sistem heap leach, data produksi diambil berdasarkan perolehan sampling. Sampel yang ada di ambil dengan sistem spot sampling setiap dua jam untuk kemudian data tersbeut dirata-ratakan hingga diperoleh rata-rata pengambilan sampel harian dan memiliki target error <5%. Berdasarkan data yang ada, terdapat beberapa titik spike atau error dalam pengambilan sampel. Oleh sebab itu perlu dianalisa lebih lanjut agar titik error berkurang. Metode yang digunakan untuk analisa adalah DMAIC. Analisa dilakukan dengan melakukan pendefinisian masalah yang ada pada spot sampling, dilanjutkan dengan pengukuran data dan menganalisis penyebab masalah, kemudian melakukan improvement dan control untuk perbaikan proses. Hasilnya ditemukan cara yang tepat untuk mengurangi masalah tersebut, yaitu dengan composite sampling. Dalam kurun waktu 16 hari, angka error turun dan dapat mencapai level sigma 12% lebih baik dari metode sebelumnya.
