Abstract

Bridge and toll roads in open areas will be at risk of being hit by crosswind which can increase the risk of car accidents in the form of rollovers, sideslip, and rotation. Spoilers on a car can increase the downforce which can increase stability. Variation in the angle of the spoiler is very influential on increasing the stability of the car. This study aims to determine the effect of spoiler angle changes on the critical speed of the car and the critical speed of the crosswind that risk causing rollover, sideslip, and rotation of the car. The research method is a simulation with CFD (Computation Fluid Dynamics) mini MPV with car speed and crosswind speed of 60 km/h, variations of the spoiler used are the spoiler angle 15⁰, spoiler 0⁰, and spoiler -15⁰. Simulation results show that the critical speed of the crosswind on the spoiler variation of 15⁰ when the car loses contact on wheel 1 is 12,84 m/s, on wheel 3 is 15,614 m/s, when there is rotation on the front axle which is 12,325 m/s, rear axle/drive is 14,519 m/s, when sideslip occurs, that is 13,658 m/s. The critical speed of crosswind on spoiler variation 0⁰ when the car loses contact on wheel 1 is 12,872 m/s, on wheel 3 that is 15,63 m/s, when there is rotation on the front axle which is 12,336 m / s, rear axle / drive is 14,41 m/s , when sideslip occurs which is 13,5 m/s. The critical speed of crosswind on spoiler variation -15⁰ when the car loses contact on wheel 1 is 12,75 m/s, on wheel 3 is 15,48 m/s, when rotation occurs on the front axle at 12,153 m/s, rear axle / drive is 14,364 m/s, when sideslip is 13,378 m/s. The critical speed of the car at 15⁰ spoiler variations during rollover is 46,23 km/h, when sideslip is 81,03 km/h. At the spoiler angle variation of 0⁰ the critical speed of the car during a rollover is 56,43 km/h, when sideslip occurs which is 75,82 km/h. At the spoiler angle variation of -15⁰ the critical speed of the car during a rollover that is 56,66 km/h, when the sideslip is 76,1 km/h. Spoiler angle variation 15⁰ is the best variation that can reduce the risk of accidents due to crosswind. Keywords: car, crosswind, spoiler, rollover, sideslip, rotation. Jembatan dan jalan tol yang berada di area terbuka akan beresiko terkena angin samping (crosswind) yang dapat meningkatkan risiko kecelakaan mobil berupa Rollover, sideslip, dan rotation. Spoiler pada mobil dapat meningkatkan gaya ke bawah yang dapat meningkatkan stabilitas. Variasi sudut pada spoiler sangat berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan stabilitas mobil. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh perubahan sudut spoiler terhadap kecepatan kritis mobil dan kecepatan kritis crosswind yang berisiko menyebabkan rollover, sideslip, dan rotation pada mobil. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah simulasi dengan perangkat lunak CFD (Computation Fluid Dynamics) mobil mini MPV dengan kecepatan mobil dan kecepatan crosswind 60 km/jam, variasi spoiler yang digunakan adalah sudut spoiler 15⁰, spoiler 0⁰, dan spoiler -15⁰. Hasil simulasi menunjukan bahwa Kecepatan kritis crosswind pada variasi spoiler 15⁰ saat mobil kehilangan kontak pada roda 1 yaitu 12,84 m/s, pada roda 3 yaitu 15,614 m/s, saat terjadi rotation pada poros depan yaitu 12,325 m/s, poros belakang/penggerak yaitu 14,519 m/s, saat terjadi sideslip yaitu 13,658 m/s. Kecepatan kritis crosswind pada variasi spoiler 0⁰ saat mobil kehilangan kontak pada roda 1 yaitu 12,872 m/s, pada roda 3 yaitu 15,63 m/s, saat terjadi rotation pada poros depan yaitu 12,336 m/s, poros belakang/penggerak yaitu 14,41 m/s, saat terjadi sideslip yaitu 13,5 m/s. Kecepatan kritis crosswind pada variasi spoiler -15⁰ saat mobil kehilangan kontak pada roda 1 yaitu 12,75 m/s, pada roda 3 yaitu 15,48 m/s, saat terjadi rotation pada poros depan yaitu 12,153 m/s, poros belakang/penggerak yaitu 14,364 m/s, saat terjadi sideslip yaitu 13,378 m/s. Kecepatan kritis mobil pada variasi spoiler 15⁰ saat terjadi rollover yaitu 46,23 km/jam, saat terjadi sideslip yaitu 81,03 km/jam. Pada variasi sudut spoiler 0⁰ kecepatan kritis mobil saat terjadi rollover yaitu 56,43 km/jam, saat terjadi sideslip yaitu 75,82 km/jam. Pada variasi sudut spoiler -15⁰ kecepatan kritis mobil saat terjadi rollover yaitu 56,66 km/jam, saat terjadi sideslip yaitu 76,1 km/jam. Variasi sudut spoiler 15⁰ adalah variasi terbaik yang dapat mengurangi risiko kecelakaan akibat crosswind. Kata Kunci : mobil, crosswind, spoiler, rollover, sideslip, rotation
