Abstract

PT Krakatau Steel is an integrated steel company which has a complex production process from downstream to upstream. One of the core processes of steel smelting is at the Slab Steel Plant. One of the supporting facilities for steel smelting is the Water Cooled Hot Gas Line (WCHGL). During the steel smelting process, WCHGL did not show maximum performance to reduce the exhaust gas from smelting by showing an outlet temperature that exceeds the operational standard, namely> 600 ° C. The output of this report is a theoretical calculation by calculating the Number of Transfer Units and CFD simulation by solidworks flow simulation. The calculated value obtained is that a decrease in temperature from 750 ° C to <600 ° C requires an additional cooling cross-sectional area to 189.9 m2. As for the addition of dilution water with a diameter of 1200mm, it can reduce the temperature to 588.8 ° C. It was concluded that the need for temperature reduction with the existing facility did not meet the operational standards set. Keywords: Analysis and Repair, Water Cooled Hot Gas Line, Number of Transfer Units, and Solidworks Flow Simulation PT Krakatau Steel adalah perusahaan baja terpadu yang memilik proses produksi komplek mulai dari hilir sampai hulu. Salah satu proses inti peleburan baja ada di pabrik Slab Steel Plant. Salah satu fasilitas penunjang peleburan baja adalah Water Cooled Hot Gas Line (WCHGL). Selama proses peleburan baja, WCHGL tidak menunjukkan performa maksimal untuk menurunkan gas buangan hasil peleburan dengan menunjukkan outlet temperature yang melebihi standard operasional yaitu >600°C, Keluaran dari penlisan laporan ini adalah perhitungan secara teoritis dengan menghitung Number of Transfer Unit dan simulasi CFD oleh solidworks flow simulation. Didapatkan nilai perhitungan didapatkan penurunan temperature 750°C menjadi <600°C dibutuhkan penambahan luas penampang pendingin menjadi 189,9m2. Adapun dengan penambahan dilution air dengan diameter 1200mm dapat menurunkan temperature mencapai 588,8°C.Disimpukan bahwa kebutuhan penurunan temperature dengan existing facility tidak memenuhi standar operasional yang tah ditentukan.
