Abstract

Fan blade platform is one of the components of CFM56-7B engine which is formed by combination of aluminum material with elastomer seal. The attached elastomer seal is often damaged and get easily peels off from the fan blade platform surface. In the adhesive bonding lamination process, surface preparation is important in determining the outcome of lamination process. In this trial, this testing is done by adding the etching process as a method of surface preparation. This test also carried out using alodine 1200 and also blasting process. The lamination process uses Loctite 480 as the adhesive material and aluminium 6061 as the adherend material.The testing process is carried out with a shear test and microscopic test to determine the surface morphology of the material after obtaining the treatment. The results of this trials conducted, etching process can clean and open the pores of the material and increase the surface roughness of the materials and increasing the test specimen with an average shear strength value of 13.34 MPa which reaches 96.74% of the standard value Loctite 480. Elastomer seal yang terpasang sering mengalami kerusakan dan mudah terkelupas pada bagian yang menempel pada permukaan fan blade platform. Pada proses laminasi adhesive bonding, proses persiapan permukaan berperan penting dalam menentukan hasil dari proses laminasi. Dalam uji coba ini dilakukan pengujian dengan penambahan proses etching sebagai metode persiapan permukaan. Pengujian ini juga dilakukan perbandingan dengan penambahan alodine 1200 dan proses blasting . Proses laminasi dengan menggunakan Loctite 480 sebagai bahan adhesi dan aluminium 6061 sebagai material adherend. Metode pengujian ini dilakukan dengan proses shear test dan uji mikroskop untuk mengetahui morfologi permukaan material setelah diberi perlakuan. Dari hasil uji coba yang dilakukan, proses etching dapat membersihkan dan membuka pori permukaan dari material serta menambah kekasaran permukaan material sehingga mempengaruhi kekuatan geser pada specimen uji dengan nilai kekuatan geser rata-rata sebesar 13.34 MPa yang mencapai 95,28% dari nilai standar Loctite 480.
