Abstract
Although the story concept and rules for playing a board game with monster fighting themes continue to develop, the concept of battle mode is always the same, namely still using more than one monster in each player, for example 5V5, 6V6 or ArmyVArmy . So that created LEGION, a new board game with the basic concept of fighting monsters 1V1 (one on one). In its own design, of course, considering the factors of concern about market trends that might be rather difficult to draw from the preference for the monotonous game mode earlier. So, the author presents several new innovations in terms of the elements of the monster character pawn where there are several additional aspects aimed at strengthening the emotional bond between the player and the pawn he has. In addition, later the character pawn will also be positioned as a collectible item that is traded independently and continues to be able to cause a sense of addict to keep abreast of its development. In the course of its design, various elements were chosen, such as colors, visual concepts, shapes, and image illustrations that tended to be industrial. This aims to bring out and strengthen a solid, elegant, and slightly brutal sensation to fit the target primary market, besides that it also fits the background of the story set in the prison. Keyword: Boardgame, Trading Card Game, Monster Card, Monster Meski konsep cerita dan aturan main sebuah Boardgame dengan tema pertarungan monster terus berkembang namun konsep mode pertarungannya selalu sama, yaitu masih menggunakan monster lebih dari satu di tiap kubu pemain, misalnya 5V5, 6V6, atau ArmyVArmy. Sehingga terciptalah LEGION, Boardgame yang baru dengan mengusung konsep dasar pertarungan monster 1V1 (satu lawan satu). Dalam perancangannya sendiri tentu mempertimbangkan faktor kekhawatiran terhadap kecenderungan pasar yang mungkin agak susah ditarik dari kesukaan terhadap mode permainan yang monoton tadi. Maka, penulis menghadirkan beberapa inovasi baru pada segi elemen pion karakter monster‐nya dimana ada beberapa aspek tambahan yang ditujukan untuk memperkuat ikatan emosional antara pemain dan pion yang dimilikinya. Selain itu, nantinya pion karakter tersebut juga diposisikan sebagai collectible item yang diperjual belikan secara independent dan continue agar dapat menimbulkan rasa addict untuk terus mengikuti perkembangannya. Dalam perjalanan desainnya, terpilih lah berbagai unsur seperti warna, konsep visual, bentuk, hingga ilustrasi gambar yang cenderung berkonsep industrial. Hal ini bertujuan untuk memunculkan dan memperkuat sensasi solid, elegan, dan sedikit brutal agar sesuai dengan target pasar primer yang dituju, selain itu juga agar sesuai dengan latar belakang cerita yang ber‐setting di dalam penjara.
