Abstract

In this era of globalization, one of the problems faced by Indonesian people is the fading of historical and cultural values, especially in the fields of architecture and interiors. This is because the mixing of various cultural elements in a work in buildings is increasingly visible. The Shalimar Boutique Hotel - Malang, is one of the places of entertainment for the Dutch who converted into a resort, then eventually became a Boutique Hotel. Boutique hotels are hotels with designs and furniture that are different from typical hotels in general, and are usually located in places that have tours. Therefore, in designing boutique hotels, especially Shalimar Boutique Hotel Malang, you must pay attention to the goal, which is to create a design by giving a cultural feel without leaving its origin, where the hotel has a colonial style because the architect who designed it is from the Netherlands. By conducting literature studies and comparative studies, the method used is a qualitative method because it provides an explanation using analysis. The design and planning of the Shalimar Boutique Hotel applies the Mid Century style with the theme "Illuminate the World with Mask Culture". From this theme there is a hope that something that is global is not derived from modern things alone, but regional art and local wisdom can also penetrate the international scene. The expected results in this thesis report can be a motivation and reference in designing a project, and can be published in the journal of Interior Design students of the Faculty of Design and Creative Arts at Mercu Buana University, Narada journals, and national journals in Indonesia. Keyword: culture, boutique hotel, colonial Di era globalisasi ini, salah satu masalah yang tengah dihadapi masyarakat Indonesia adalah lunturnya nilai sejarah dan budaya, khususnya dalam bidang arsitektur dan interior. Hal ini dikarenakan percampuran berbagai unsur budaya dalam suatu hasil karya pada bangunan semakin terlihat. The Shalimar Boutique Hotel - Malang, merupakan salah satu tempat hiburan bagi kaum Belanda yang beralih fungsi menjadi tempat peristirahatan, kemudian pada akhirnya menjadi Hotel Butik. Hotel butik adalah hotel dengan desain dan furniture yang berbeda dengan tipikal hotel pada umumnya, serta biasanya berlokasi di tempat-tempat yang memiliki wisata. Maka dari itu dalam mendesain hotel butik, khususnya Hotel Butik Shalimar Malang haruslah memperhatikan tujuannya, yaitu meciptakan sebuah desain dengan memberikan nuansa kebudayaan tanpa harus meninggalkan asalusulnya, dimana hotel tersebut bergayakan kolonial dikarenakan arsitek yang merancang adalah berasal dari Belanda. Dengan melakukan studi literatur maupun studi banding, maka metode yang dilakukan adalah metode kualitatif karena bersifat memberikan penjelasan dengan menggunakan analisa. Pada perancangan dan perencanaan Hotel Butik Shalimar ini menerapkan gaya Mid Century Modern dengan mengangkat tema “Illuminate the World with Mask Culture”. Dari tema tersebut tedapat suatu harapan yaitu sesuatu yang mendunia bukanlah berasal dari hal-hal modern saja, namun kesenian daerah maupun kearifan lokal juga dapat menembus kancah internasional. Hasil yang diharapkan dalam laporan tugas akhir ini adalah bisa menjadi motivasi dan referensi dalam merancang suatu proyek, dan dapat dipublikasikan pada jurnal mahasiswa Desain Interior Fakultas Desain dan Seni Kreatif Universitas Mercu Buana, jurnal narada, dan jurnal nasional di Indonesia.
