Abstract
The development of technology, especially information technology, is now increasing rapidly, coupled with the Interconnection Network technology that can be accessed without limits of space and time. Along with increasing the need for communication access, the need for the availability of transmission media is increasing, one of which is a satellite communication system. With this satellite communication, it will provide internet access in the interior of Indonesia easily and quickly because it does not require a wireless connection. However, as well as others, satellite communication also has shortcomings that can affect the speed of its internet network. Because the Earth is round, 1 satellite located in space cannot transmit a signal with the same point. There are several regions or regions that get unequal signals. We will explain this difference in this study which discusses whether there really is a difference in each region due to the reception of signals from satellites as evidenced by the measurement of each coverage area by taking a sample of 1 location. Keywords :VSAT, Coverage area, Delay, Es/No, Throughput, packet loss. Perkermbangan teknologi khususnya teknologi informasi dewasa ini semakin pesat, ditambah lagi dnegan teknologi Interconnection Network yang dapat diakses tanpa batas ruang dan waktu. Seiring dengan meningkanya kebutuhan akses komunikasi maka kebutuhan akan ketersediaan media transmisi meningkat salah satunya adalah sistem komunikasi satelit. Dengan adanya komunikasi satelit ini, maka akan memberikan akses internet di pedalaman wilayah Indonesia dengan mudah dan cepat karena tidak membutuhkan sambungan nirkabel. Namun, begitu juga dengan yang lainnya, komunikasi satelit juga memiliki kekurangan yang dapat mempengaruhi kecepatan jaringan internetnya. Karena Bumi itu bulat, maka 1 satelit yang terletak di angkasa tidak dapat memancarkan sinyal dengan sama keseluruh titik. Ada beberapa wilayah atau daerah yang mendapatkan sinyal yang tidak sama. Perbedaan ini akan kami paparkan pada penelitian ini yang membahas mengenai apakah memang benar ada perbedaan di setiap wilayah karena penerimaan sinyal dari satelit yang dibuktikan dengan pengukuran masing-masing coverage area dengan mengambil sample 1 lokasi. Kata kunci : VSAT, Coverage area, Delay, Es/No, Throughput, packet loss.
