Abstract
Soliton pulses as a solution to maintain the shape of the signal from the medium that makes the signal distortion is a choice in fiber-optic transmitter. Soliton pulses with a narrow spectrum and is affected by Group Velocity Delay (GVD) and Self Phase Modulation (SPM) effects of non-linear form of the defense to make a dispersion medium. In this research soliton pulses transmitted up to a distance of 300 km. Non-linear effects in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) link caused by the Kerr-effect and Inelastic Scattering. Kerr Effect includes Cross Phase Modulation (XPM), Four Wave Mixing (FWM) and Self-Phase Modulation (SPM). While Inelastic Scattering includes Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS). This research analyzed the influence of the Kerr-effect where the refractive index of the non-linear influence on the decrease in the number of channels transmitted. The results showed the 16 channels that are transmitted on a non-linear fiber with n2 = 4,4526.10-20 m2/W using 50 GHz channel spacing between channel that has contained 1 channel which has BER above 10-9 . The results in this final project is non-linier effect that change the value of n2 to the worst conditions show a growing number of channels (lamda) that cannot be transmitted. This research also prove that soliton pulse at 16 channels (lamda) of DWDM with a length of 300 miles are able to maintain all the channels which has a value of BER below 10-9 on fiber n1 = 3x10-20 m 2 /W. Key words : Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing, Kerr-Effect, Four Wave Mixing, Cross Phase Modulation, Self Phase Modulation, Soliton, Lamda Pulsa Soliton sebagai solusi untuk mempertahankan bentuk signal dari medium yang membuat signal distorsi menjadi pilihan transmitter pada serat optic. Pulsa soliton dengan spectrum yang sempit dan dipengaruhi oleh Group Velocity Delay (GVD) dan efek non-linier Self Phase Modulation (SPM) membuat pertahanan bentuk pada medium dispersi. Dalam penelitian ini pulsa soliton ditransmisikan hingga jarak 300 km. Efek non-linier pada jaringan Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) disebabkan oleh Kerr Effect dan Inelastic Scattering. Kerr Effect meliputi Cross Phase Modulation (XPM), Four Wave Mixing (FWM) dan Self phase modulation (SPM) Sedangkan Inelastic Scattering meliputi Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) dan Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS). Penelitian ini menganalisis Kerr-effect dimana pengaruh indeks bias non-linier sangat berpengaruh pada penurunan jumlah lamda yang ditransmisikan. Hasil penelitian ini akan menunjukkan dalam jumlah 16 lamda yang ditransmisikan pada serat non-linier dengan n2 = 4.4526x10-18 m 2 /W spasi lamda 50 Ghz terdapat 1 lamda yang memiliki BER di atas 10-9 . Hasil penelitian akhir pada efek non-linier yang merubah nilai n2 hingga kondisi terburuk menunjukkan semakin banyak lamda yang tidak bisa ditransmisikan. Penelitian ini juga membuktikan bahwa pulsa soliton dalam jaringan DWDM 16 lamda dengan link 300 km mampu mempertahankan 16 lamda yang memiliki nilai BER di bawah 10-9 pada serat n1 = 3x10-20 m 2 /W.
