Abstract

The use of large bandwidth on the ISP can cause server workload to be increased. To reduce bandwidth usage is used proxy server with caching function or temporary content storage. But the proxy burden also increases if it serves many users at the same time. To set and optimize the proxy function then use load balancer as load balancer on proxy. Load balancers were previously applied with a round robin algorithm that works by dividing loads simultaneously and repeatedly. But this algorithm has a weakness that causes uneven load sharing on the server. For that new algorithm is implemented that least connection algorithm that works by dividing the load based on the connection served. The result of the research shows that active round robin connection is not evenly distributed on each server with 2.97% gap with the lowest value of 11.679% and the highest is 14.65%. As for the least connection algorithm obtained the value of active connection is quite evenly with the lowest value of 12.45% and the highest 12.54%. Throughput calculation results obtained ISP bandwidth savings denagan use of proxy server on the algorithm round robin of 64.10% and the least connection algorithm worth 64.22% Keywords: ISP, proxy server, load balancer, bandwidth, routing, throughput, delay, overload, least connection, round robin Penggunaan bandwidth yang besar pada ISP dapat menyebabkan beban kerja server menjadi meningkat. Untuk mengurangi pemakaian bandwidth digunakan proxy server dengan fungsi caching atau penyimpan konten sementara. Tetapi beban proxy juga meningkat jika melayani banyak pengguna dalam waktu bersamaan. Untuk mengatur dan mengoptimalkan fungsi proxy maka digunakanlah load balancer sebgai penyeimbang beban pada proxy. Load balancer sebelumnya diterapkan dengan algoritma round robin yang bekerja dengan membagi beban secara bersamaan dan berulang. Tetapi algoritma ini memiliki kelemahan yang menyebabkan pembagian beban tidak merata pada server. Untuk itu diterapkan algoritma yang baru yaitu algoritma least connection yang bekerja dengan membagi beban berdasarkan koneksi yang dilayani. Hasil penelitian didapatkan active connection algoritma round robin tidak merata pada setiap server dengan gap 2.97% dengan nilai terendah 11.679% dan tertinggi 14.65%. Sedangkan untuk algoritma least connection didapatkan nilai active connection yang cukup merata dengan nilai terendah 12.45% dan tertinggi 12.54%. Hasil perhitungan throughput didapatkan penghematan bandwidth ISP denagan pemakaian proxy server pada algoritma round robin sebesar 64.10% dan algoritma least connection senilai 64.22% Kata kunci : ISP, proxy server, load balancer, bandwidth, routing, throughput, delay, overload, least connection, round robin
