Abstract
The purpose of this research was to test the impact of social media addiction towards self acceptance in psychology students regular 2 at Mercu Buana University. The number of subjects used in this research was 273 people designed by using simple random sampling technic. The data was collected by using a measuring instrument called IAT (Internet Addiction Test) scale and Berger’s Self Acceptance Scale through an online questionnaire system. Each scale had reliability as much as 0.933 for the internet addiction test and 0.918 for Berger’s Self Acceptance Scale. The analysis result used simple regression analysis showed there was a significant impact on social media addiction towards self acceptance with effective contribution as much as 10.6% and the level of significance 0.000 with the constant -0.380. The result showed there was significance of media social addiction to self acceptance in the negative direction this show the higher level of social media addiction then the lower of self acceptance. Keywords: media social addiction, self acceptance, students Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh adiksi media sosial terhadap penerimaan diri pada mahasiswa psikologi reguler 2 Universitas Mercu Buana. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 273 orang dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat ukur IAT (Internet Addiction Test) dan Berger’s Self Acceptance Scale melalui sistem kuesioner online. Masing-masing memiliki reliabilitas sebesar 0,933 untuk skala internet addiction test dan 0,918 untuk skala penerimaan diri. Hasil analisis menggunakan analisa regresi sederhana menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan antara adiksi media sosial terhadap penerimaan diri dengan sumbangan efektif sebesar 10.6% dan tingkat signifikasi 0.000 dengan konstanta sebesar - 0.380. hasil menunjukkan adanya signifikasi adiksi media sosial terhadap penerimaan diri ke arah negatif yang berarti semakin tinggi adiksi media sosial maka semakin rendah penerimaan diri.
