Abstract

This study aims to see the differences in the level of parasocial and romantic beliefs in Korean drama viewer with different age groups. This research measures the level of parasocial using Audience Persona Interaction Scale (APIS) created by Auter and Palmgreen, and romantic beliefs measured by Romantic Beliefs Scale (RBS) by Sprecher and Mets. This research compares the level of parasocial ad romantic beliefs from two different age group; emerging adulthood and middle adulthood, according to the developmental theory of Jeffrey Arnett. for measuring the level of parasocial using Audience Persona Interaction Scale (APIS). This research uses a quantitative approach with non-experimental comparative method. The results of this study are; 1) There are no differences in the level of parasocial and romantic belief scale based on the age group in Korean drama viewers, 2) After conducting a more thorough comparison per dimension, there is a noticeable difference between the two. Keywords: Parasocial, Romantic Beliefs, Woman, Emerging Adulthood, Middle Adulthood, Korean Drama Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan tingkat parasosial dan romantic beliefs pada penonton drama korea dengan kelompok usia yang berbeda. Penelitian ini mengukur tingkat parasosial menggunakan Audience Persona Interaction Scale (APIS) yang dibuat oleh Auter dan Palmgreen, dan romantic beliefs yang diukur menggunakan Romantic Beliefs Scale (RBS) yang dibuat oleh Sprecher dan Metts. Penelitian ini membandingkan tingkat parasosial dan romantic beliefs dari dua kelompok usia yang berbeda; emerging adulthood dan middle adulthood, sesuai teori perkembangan Jeffrey Arnett. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode komparatif non-eksperimental. Hasil penelitian ini adalah; 1) Tidak terdapat perbedaan tingkat parasosial dan romantic belief berdasarkan kelompok usia pada penonton drama Korea, 2) Setelah melakukan perbandingan per dimensi, ternyata terdapat perbedaan diantara keduanya. .
