Abstract
The world has experienced enormous energy crises on the one hand, while on the other hand the need for environmentally friendly energy is also absolutely necessary. Among the fundamental energy needs in a technologically advanced society is electrical energy. So far, the world's electrical energy uses many non-renewable sources of energy or fuels such as coal, petroleum and natural gas, where their reserves become depleting in the world. Nowadays fuel cell technology has evolved and implemented. Due to its high conversion efficiency, fuel efficiency, flexibility to combine heat and environmentally friendly. This new technology can provide electrical power for the automotive, residential, commercial and industrial customers. Among various types of fuel cells, the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is one of the most widely used fuel cells, especially for vehicles and power plants applications. The advantages of PEMFC are short of start time (spontaneous), fast response, high efficiency and high energy density. The vehicle in question can be a motor vehicle, including Urban Urban Hybrid Team Geni Biru. In this final project, the characteristics of the PEMFC are simulated by using MATLAB version 2014a. The program code is designed to analysis the power performance with variations 500 and 1000 W, designed to drive system the electrical motor. The results of this analysis will be analyzed characteristics such as polarization, heat and water curves generated, efficiency, hydrogen use and power generated under different temperature and temperature conditions. The results of this analysis will be analyzed characteristic of polarization curves, head amd water generated, efficiency, hydrogen consumption and power generated under different temperature and pressure conditions. Keywords: Urban hybrid, proton exchange membrane fuel cell, system setup, MATLAB Dunia telah mengalami krisis energi yang sangat besar pada satu sisi, sementara disisi lain kebutuhan akan energi yang ramah lingkungan juga mutlak dibutuhkan. Diantara kebutuhan energi yang mendasar dalam masyarakat yang berteknologi ialah energi listrik. Selama ini energi listrik di dunia banyak menggunakan sumber energi atau bahan bakar yang tak terbarukan seperti batubara, minyak bumi dan gas alam, yang cadangannya semakin menipis. Teknologi bahan bakar sel (fuel cell) telah berkembang dan diimplentasikan. Karena nilai efisiensi konversinya yang tinggi, kemudahan bahan bakar yang didapat, fleksibilitas untuk mengkombinasikan panas serta ramah lingkungan. Teknologi baru ini dapat memberikan daya listrik untuk bidang otomotif, perumahan, komersial dan pelanggan industri. Dari berbagai jenis fuel cell, proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) menjadi salah satu jenis fuel cell yang paling banyak digunakan terutama pada kendaraan dan pembangkit listrik. Kelebihan dari PEMFC adalah waktu start-up yang singkat (spontan), respon cepat, efisiensi tinggi dan kepadatan energi tinggi. Kendaraan yang dimaksud dapat berupa kendaraan bermotor, termasuk juga Mobil Urban Hybrid Tim Geni Biru. Pada tugas akhir ini, karakteristik PEMFC disimulasikan menggunakan MATLAB versi 2014a. Program dirancang untuk melakukan analisis daya dengan variasi daya 500 dan 1000 W, dirancang untuk sistem penggerak motor listrik. Hasil analisis ini akan dianalisis karakteristiknya seperti kurva polarisasi, panas dan air yang dihasilkan, efisiensi, penggunaan hidrogen dan daya yang dihasilkan dalam kondisi temperatur serta tekanan yang berbeda-beda.
