Abstract
Library is one of the most important parts of education. It is the provider of books as a source of reference for learning. However, the reading interest of the community is declining every year, so it is ranked low. In this digital age, society is increasingly turning to everything that is instantaneous and practical. In other words, the public is very interested in the rapidly growing technological developments. Libraries that are designed in such a way by utilizing the use of technology in the service system will attract public interest to re-visit the library. Not only take advantage of technology in the service system alone, but also apply the same to other services such as custody and registration of members. So the library will be a library that almost entirely using self-service system. It would be more interesting if the library room is designed by applying contemporary cultural elements in it. It aims to keep people from forgetting the culture of Indonesia, especially Betawi culture which is the original culture in Jakarta. Keywords: Technology, self service, present, culture. Perpustakaan merupakan salah satu bagian terpenting dari dunia pendidikan. Merupakan tempat penyedia buku-buku sebagai sumber acuan pembelajaran. Akan tetapi, minat baca masyarakat semakin menurun setiap tahunnya sehingga menduduki peringkat yang rendah. Di zaman yang serba digital ini, masyarakat semakin beralih ke segala sesuatu yang serba instan dan praktis. Dengan kata lain, masyarakat sangat tertarik dengan perkembangan teknologi yang semakin melaju pesat. Perpustakaan yang didesain dengan sedemikian rupa dengan memanfaatkan penggunaan teknologi pada sistem pelayanannya akan menarik minat masyarakat untuk kembali mengunjungi perpustakaan. Bukan hanya memanfaatkan teknologi pada sistem pelayanannya saja, akan tetapi juga menerapkan hal yang sama pada pelayanan lain seperti penitipan barang dan pendaftaran anggota. Sehingga perpustakaan akan menjadi perpustakaan yang hampir seluruhnya menggunakan sistem self service. Akan lebih menarik jika ruang perpustakaan didesain dengan menerapkan unsur-unsur kebudayaan yang dikemas secara kontemporer di dalamnya. Ini bertujuan agar masyarakat tidak melupakan budaya Indonesia, khususnya budaya Betawi yang merupakan budaya asli di Jakarta. Kata Kunci: Teknologi, self service, masa kini, budaya
