Abstract
PT. Dharma Polimetal is a manufacturing company in the field of automotive components, producing various types of motor vehicle components. One product that is done is a pipe product. This product was originally done through 4 processes namely cutting 1, cutting 2, drilling 1 and drilling 2. Then done improvement to simplify the process by making 1 machine, that is special purpose machine. With the new machine all the processes are done in 1 machine simultaneously. Impacts on man power reduction as well as cycle time. Man power from 2 people to 1 person only, cycle time from 32 seconds to 31 seconds. Such improvements require investment. Once calculated using the method of break even point and payback period, the investment is declared feasible and in accordance with company standards. Keywords: pipe, investment, special purpose machine. PT. Dharma Polimetal adalah sebuah perusahaan manufaktur di bidang komponen otomotif, memproduksi berbagai jenis komponen kendaraan bermotor. Salah satu produk yang dikerjakan adalah produk pipe. Produk ini semula dikerjakan melalui 4 proses yaitu cutting 1, cutting 2, drilling 1 dan drilling 2. Lalu dilakukan improvement untuk menyederhanakan proses dengan membuat 1 mesin, yaitu special purpose machine. Dengan mesin baru tersebut semua proses dikerjakan dalam 1 mesin secara bersamaan. Berdampak pada penggurangan man power serta cycle time. Man power semula 2 orang menjadi 1 orang saja, cycle time dari 32 detik menjadi 31 detik. Improvement tersebut membutuhkan investasi. Setelah dihitung menggunakan metode break even point dan payback period, investasi tersebut dinyatakan layak dan sesuai dengan standar perusahaan. Kata Kunci: pipe, investment, special purpose machine.
