Abstract
One alternative way companies raise capital is to go public, the securities issued to obtain capital from investors or the public. In capital markets, IPO is usually lower than the price that occurred in the stock market and this condition is called underpricing. Viewed from the side of the issuers underpricing is harmful because the collection of funds from the IPO could or also called Initial Public Offering (IPO) was not optimal. To create an ideal stock prices need to know the factors that influence the level of underpricing in order to prevent the company from underestimate the value of the stock market. This study aims to examine the factors that is expected to be the cause of underpricing in initial stock. Factors that are expected to market, underwriter reputation, the reputation of auditors, company age, and ROA. Research sample is a company that did go public on the Jakarta Stock Exchange from 1998-2006 and experienced underpricing. The number of samples that meet criteria are 93 companies. The hypothesis was tested with multiple regression models. From the result of test showed the result that all the independent variables jointly have a significant effect on underpricing. If there are partial views of three variables which significantly affect the reputation of auditors, company age, and ROA.
