Abstract
In this modern technology era, there are technique to identified object. The almost used technology like smart card, barcode, QR Code, and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). These technique has different characteristic. Identification technique use smart card, barcode, and QR Code needs direct contact or line-of-sight scanning. RFID comes or created to increase identification needs without direct contact or line-of-sight scanning. RFID is a technology which is use electromagnetic or electrostatic in the radio frequency so it does not need to contact directly when identify an object. An RFID system consists of three components: an antenna, transceiver (often combined into one reader with antenna) and a transponder (the tag). RFID has a lot of benefit to identify object for example to identify Students in attendance system. Every single student will have a unique code and then we can get that code to match to the data base and then we can process for attendance system needs. This research aims to build an attendance system using RFID. The development phase stage and tools (hardware) systems required in the process will be described in detail in this report. Keyword : RFID, TAG, READER, Radio Frequency Identification Pada era teknologi modern sekarang terdapat berbagai teknik untuk mengidentifikasi suatu objek. Teknologi yang sering digunakan yaitu seperti smart card, barcode, Quick Response (QR) Code, dan RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). Teknik – teknik pengidentifikasian objek ini memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda – beda. Teknik pengidentifikasian menggunakan smart card, barcode, dan QR Code memerlukan kontak langsung atau line-of-sight scanning. RFID hadir atau diciptakan untuk meningkatkan kebutuhan pengidentifikasian tanpa memerlukan kontak langsung atau line-of-sight scanning. RFID adalah sebuah teknologi yang menggunakan elektromagnetik atau elektrostatik pada frequensi radio sehingga kelebihan RFID dalam pengidentifikasian suatu obyek tidak memerlukan kontak langsung. Sebuah sistem RFID terdiri dari 3 komponen yaitu antena, Reader/transceiver, dan transponder (TAG). RFID ini bisa dimanfaatkan untuk berbagai hal salah satunya untuk mengidentifikasi mahasiswa pada sistem absensi. Setiap mahasiswa akan memiliki suatu pengkodean yang unik sehingga datanya kemudian bisa diambil kemudian dicocokan kedalam data base lalu diproses untuk kebutuhan sistem absensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun sistem absensi mahasiswa menggunakan RFID. Tahap – tahap pengembangan sistem dan peratalan yang dibutuhkan dalam proses tersebut akan diuraikan secara lengkap pada laporan skripsi ini. Kata kunci: RFID, TAG, READER, Radio Frequency Identification.
