Abstract
This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of leader interpersonal competence and corporate culture on employee engagement. Research data is employee data for one year observation period (January 1, 2012 until December 31, 2012). The population in this study was employees of PT. IPSOS Indonesia Jakarta. The sampling method used was census to involve all 200 permanent staffs as the respondent. This study uses causality-based approach which examined the relationship between employee engagement to determine the causality of leadership interpersonal competencies and corporate culture on employee engagement. The analysis was conducted on the validity, reliability, classic assumption test, correlation and regression. The partial results analysis of leader interpersonal competency variable has significant effect on employee engagement. Reviewing and Guiding dimension from leader interpersonal competency variable is the most dominant influencer to the motivational dimension of the employee engagement variable. The indicator ‘Provides guidance of how to achieve targets’ were strongly correlated with the indicator of ‘employees speak with pride about the organization’. The analysis results showed partially that corporate culture has a significant effect on employee engagement. The capability development dimension of the corporate culture variable is the most dominant influencer to the motivational dimension of the employee engagement variable. The indicator of ‘There is continuous investment in the skills of employees’ were strongly correlated with the indicator of ‘Employees are motivated to bring new ideas to their workplace’. The results of simultaneous analysis of leader interpersonal competency and corporate culture have a significant effect on employee engagement. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh kompetensi interpersonal pemimpin dan budaya perusahaan terhadap employee engagement di PT. IPSOS Indonesia. Data penelitian merupakan data karyawan untuk periode observasi setahun (1 Januari 2012 sampai dengan 31 Desember 2012). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan PT. IPSOS Indonesia Jakarta. Metode sampling yang digunakan adalah sensus dengan mengambil sampel seluruh karyawan tetap yang berjumlah 200 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dimana berbasis kausalistis, yaitu menguji hubungan antara fenomena variabel employee engagement dengan menentukan kausalitas dari variabel-variabel yang mempengaruhinya yaitu kompetensi interpersonal pemimpin dan budaya perusahaan terhadap employee engagement karyawan PT. IPSOS Indonesia. Analisis yang dilakukan meliputi uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji asumsi klasik, uji korelasi dan uji regresi. Hasil analisa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial variabel bebas Kompetensi Interpersonal Pemimpin berpengaruh signifikan terhadap variabel terikat Employee Engagement. Dari variabel Kompetensi Interpersonal Pemimpin, dimensi memberikan Penilaian dan Bimbingan memiliki hubungan kuat dengan dimensi Emosional. Dari dimensi tersebut diatas, indikator ‘Memberikan bimbingan agar anak buah dapat mencapai target-target yang diberikan’ berhubungan kuat dengan indikator ‘Karyawan merasa bangga dengan tempatnya bekerja’. Hasil analisa secara parsial variabel Budaya Perusahaan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap variabel Employee Engagement. Dari variabel Budaya Perusahaan, dimensi Pengembangan Kapabilitas memiliki hubungan kuat dengan dimensi Motivasional dalam variabel Employee Engagement. Dari dimensi tersebut diatas, indikator ‘Adanya Budaya Perusahaan yang memiliki program pelatihan meningkatkan kapabilitas secara kontinyu’ berhubungan kuat dengan indikator ‘Karyawan termotivasi ingin membawa ide-ide baru ke tempat pekerjaannya’. Hasil analisis secara simultan variabel Kompetensi Interpersonal Pemimpin dan Budaya Perusahaan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Employee Engagement. Kata kunci: kompetensi interpersonal pemimpin, budaya perusahaan, employee engagement.
