Abstract
Cavitation is the phenomenon of phase change from liquid to vapor flowing fluid. These changes may occur as a result of the pressure drop and temperature rise. Indication of the occurrence of cavitation bubbles is the emergence of steam, the pump vibration and noise. The effects of cavitation on the pump is the decline in performance (performance). Later effects of cavitation on the casing and impeller causing holes (pitting) on the walls and surfaces of the blade surface. In this research, varied fluid temperature is supposed to influence the occurrence of cavitation in centrifugal pump impeller. The higher the temperature, the greater the likelihood of cavitation. Cavitation can also be predicted by calculating NPSH, where the available NPSH must be greater than the NPSH required Kavitasi merupakan fenomena perubahan phase uap dari zat cair pada fluida yang mengalir. Perubahan tersebut dapat terjadi akibat turunnya tekanan maupun naiknya temperatur. Indikasi terjadinya kavitasi adalah timbulnya gelembung-gelembung uap, getaran pada pompa dan suara bising. Efek kavitasi pada pompa adalah turunnya unjuk kerja (performance). Akibat lanjutan kavitasi pada casing dan sudu menimbulkan lubang-lubang (pitting) pada dinding maupun permukaan permukaan sudu. Pada penilitian ini, divariasikan temperatur fluida yang diduga berpengaruh terhadap terjadinya kavitasi pada sudu pompa sentrifugal. Semakin tinggi temperatur, maka semakin besar pula kemungkinan terjadinya kavitasi. Kavitasi juga dapat diprediksi dengan menghitung NPSH, dimana NPSH yang tersedia harus lebih besar daripada NPSH yang dibutuhkan
