Abstract

Industrial automation laboratory courses are one of the learning methods that help students better understand how to implement control systems based on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This study aims to design, implement, and test a proximity sensor training aid based on the Omron CP1E-N40DR-D PLC as a practical tool for industrial automation training. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, which included the stages of requirements analysis, hardware and software design, system implementation, and performance testing of the training tool. Testing was conducted on the program compilation process, program transfer, RUN mode, PLC input-output functions, proximity sensor characteristics based on material type and detection distance, as well as overall system testing. The results show that the learning aid was successfully implemented using an Omron CP1E-N40DR-D PLC, two NPNtype proximity sensors, a toggle switch, indicator lights, and a 24 VDC power supply. These components were integrated via a Ladder Diagram program using CX-Programmer. Based on the test results, the average time to compile the program was 2.18 seconds, transferring the program took 3.15 seconds, and switching the PLC to RUN mode took 0.59 seconds, with an average supply voltage of 24.04 VDC. When the sensor detects a metal object, it produces an average voltage of 24.01 VDC and 24.02 VDC. The PLC output produces an average voltage of 24.07 VDC and 24.05 VDC at the indicator light. Based on the implementation and testing results, this training tool functions as intended, successfully integrating input devices, the PLC, and output devices, and is suitable for use as a practical learning tool for industrial automation, helping students better understand PLC-based control systems. Praktikum otomasi industri merupakan salah satu metode pembelajaran yang membantu mahasiswa memahami dengan lebih baik cara menerapkan sistem kendali berbasis Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang, mengimplementasikan, dan menguji alat bantu pelatihan sensor proximity berbasis PLC Omron CP1E-N40DR-D sebagai alat praktis untuk pelatihan otomatisasi industri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D), yang mencakup tahap analisis kebutuhan, perancangan perangkat keras dan perangkat lunak, implementasi sistem, serta pengujian kinerja alat pelatihan. Pengujian dilakukan pada proses kompilasi program, transfer program, mode RUN, fungsi input-output PLC, karakteristik sensor proximity berdasarkan jenis material dan jarak deteksi, serta pengujian sistem secara keseluruhan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat bantu pembelajaran berhasil diimplementasikan menggunakan PLC Omron CP1E-N40DR-D, dua sensor proximity tipe NPN, sakelar toggle, lampu indikator, dan catu daya 24 VDC. Komponen-komponen ini diintegrasikan melalui program Diagram Tangga menggunakan CX-Programmer. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, waktu rata-rata untuk mengkompilasi program adalah 2,18 detik, mentransfer program membutuhkan waktu 3,15 detik, dan mengalihkan PLC ke mode RUN membutuhkan waktu 0,59 detik, dengan tegangan suplai rata-rata sebesar 24,04 VDC. Ketika sensor mendeteksi benda logam, sensor tersebut menghasilkan tegangan rata-rata sebesar 24,01 VDC dan 24,02 VDC. Output PLC menghasilkan tegangan rata-rata sebesar 24,07 VDC dan 24,05 VDC pada lampu indikator. Berdasarkan hasil implementasi dan pengujian, alat pelatihan ini berfungsi sesuai rencana, berhasil mengintegrasikan perangkat masukan, PLC, dan perangkat keluaran, serta cocok digunakan sebagai alat pembelajaran praktis untuk otomatisasi industri, yang membantu mahasiswa memahami sistem kontrol berbasis PLC dengan lebih baik.
