Abstract

The barbershop industry in Indonesia faces intensifying competition and operational challenges that affect efficiency and customer satisfaction. The main problems identified include customers’ difficulty in selecting suitable hairstyles, long waiting times, and manual transaction recording without real-time business performance monitoring. In response, this study aims to analyze and redesign barbershop service business processes using the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) approach to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. The proposed solution is a digital application prototype featuring booking and hairstyle recommendation capabilities integrated with a Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard to present business performance indicators and support data-driven decision-making. Data were collected through observations and structured interviews at three barbershops with different characteristics (traditional, semimodern, and modern), as well as questionnaires administered to 53 customers. Business process analysis was conducted by mapping the As-Is processes and performing root-cause analysis using a Fishbone Diagram. This research results in a more effective To-Be process model, a prototype booking and hairstyle recommendation app that enhances service personalization, and a BI dashboard design based on descriptive analytics that presents business performance. Usability testing results show that the prototype is easy to use for both customers and barbershop partners and meets user needs. Overall, the integration of BPR, the application prototype, and BI is projected to deliver an innovative solution that improves operational efficiency, service quality, and the competitiveness of barbershops in the digital age. Industri barbershop di Indonesia menghadapi persaingan yang semakin ketat serta tantangan operasional yang berdampak pada efisiensi dan kepuasan pelanggan. Permasalahan utama yang teridentifikasi meliputi kesulitan pelanggan dalam menentukan model rambut yang sesuai, waktu tunggu yang lama, serta pencatatan transaksi manual tanpa dukungan pemantauan performa bisnis secara real-time. Menanggapi kondisi tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dan merancang ulang proses bisnis layanan barbershop menggunakan pendekatan Business Process Reengineering (BPR) untuk meningkatkan efisiensi operasional dan kualitas layanan. Solusi yang diajukan berupa rancangan prototipe aplikasi digital dengan fitur pemesanan (booking) dan rekomendasi hairstyle yang terintegrasi dengan dashboard Business Intelligence (BI) guna menyajikan indikator performa bisnis dan mendukung pengambilan keputusan berbasis data. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara terstruktur pada tiga barbershop dengan karakteristik berbeda (tradisional, semi-modern, dan modern), serta penyebaran kuesioner kepada 53 pelanggan. Analisis proses bisnis dilakukan dengan pemetaan proses As-Is dan analisis akar masalah menggunakan Fishbone Diagram. Penelitian ini menghasilkan model proses To-Be yang lebih efektif, prototipe aplikasi booking dan rekomendasi hairstyle yang meningkatkan personalisasi layanan, serta rancangan dashboard BI berbasis analitik deskriptif yang menyajikan performa bisnis. Hasil usability testing menunjukkan bahwa prototipe mudah digunakan oleh pelanggan maupun mitra barbershop dan telah sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna. Secara keseluruhan, integrasi BPR, prototipe aplikasi, dan BI diproyeksikan menghadirkan solusi inovatif yang meningkatkan efisiensi operasional, kualitas layanan, dan daya saing barbershop di era digital.
