Abstract
The internship attendance process at Universitas Mercu Buana is still conducted manually using paper-based records, making attendance recording less effective, difficult to monitor, and unable to support automatic location validation. This study aims to develop a web-based internship attendance system using GPS geofencing technology, analyze the differences in distance calculation results and computation time between the Haversine algorithm and the Vincenty method, evaluate the effect of geofencing radius variations on location validation, and assess the system's ability to detect location manipulation. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Agile software development method. The Haversine algorithm was used as the primary distance calculation method, while the Vincenty method was used as a comparison method. The results indicate that the system was successfully developed, and all system functions operated properly based on Black Box Testing. The comparison between the two methods showed an average distance difference of 0.136216 meters, while the Haversine algorithm achieved a faster average computation time of 0.0052 ms compared to 0.0094 ms for the Vincenty method. The geofencing radius evaluation demonstrated that a 150-meter radius was the most suitable configuration for the Universitas Mercu Buana environment, while the fake GPS detection test achieved a success rate of 93.33%. Furthermore, the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) results obtained a score of 91.83%, which falls into the Very Good category. Based on these findings, the developed system is capable of supporting a location-based internship attendance process effectively, accurately, and more reliably while minimizing location manipulation. Keyword: internship Attendance System, GPS Geofencing, Haversine, Vincenty, Fake GPS Detection Proses absensi peserta magang di Universitas Mercu Buana masih dilakukan secara manual menggunakan media kertas sehingga pencatatan kehadiran kurang efektif, sulit dipantau, dan belum mendukung validasi lokasi peserta secara otomatis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan sistem absensi magang berbasis web menggunakan teknologi GPS geofencing, menganalisis perbedaan hasil perhitungan jarak dan waktu komputasi antara algoritma Haversine dan metode Vincenty, mengevaluasi pengaruh variasi radius geofencing terhadap validasi lokasi, serta menguji kemampuan sistem dalam mendeteksi manipulasi lokasi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) dengan metode pengembangan Agile. Algoritma Haversine digunakan sebagai metode utama perhitungan jarak, sedangkan metode Vincenty digunakan sebagai metode pembanding. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem berhasil dikembangkan dan seluruh fungsi berjalan dengan baik berdasarkan pengujian Black Box. Perbandingan kedua metode menghasilkan rata-rata selisih perhitungan jarak sebesar 0,136216 meter, sedangkan algoritma Haversine memiliki rata-rata waktu komputasi lebih cepat, yaitu 0,0052 ms, dibandingkan metode Vincenty sebesar 0,0094 ms. Pengujian variasi radius menunjukkan bahwa radius 150 meter merupakan konfigurasi yang paling sesuai untuk lingkungan Universitas Mercu Buana, sementara pengujian deteksi fake GPS memperoleh tingkat keberhasilan 93,33%. Selain itu, hasil User Acceptance Testing (UAT) memperoleh nilai 91,83% dengan kategori Sangat Baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, sistem yang dikembangkan mampu mendukung proses absensi magang berbasis lokasi secara efektif, akurat, dan lebih andal dalam meminimalkan manipulasi lokasi.
