Abstract
This research aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and selfcontrol in adolescents. Self-esteem is an individual's evaluation of his own worth, while self-control is an individual's ability to control impulses and direct behavior in accordance with social norms. This research used a correlational quantitative method, with a sample size of 252 SALAM MAGELANG High School students determined using the Isaac & Michael (1981) table with an error rate of 5%. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the criteria being students aged 15-18 years. The instruments used in this research were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) with 10 items to measure self-esteem, and the Indonesian version of the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) with 10 items to measure self-control. Self-esteem consists of 2 main dimensions, namely Self-Competence and Self-Liking, while self-control consists of 2 main dimensions, namely Inhibition and Initiation. The validity test was carried out using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) method, while the reliability test used Cronbach's Alpha. Data analysis was carried out using classic assumption tests, namely normality and linearity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The research results show that there is a significant relationship between selfesteem and self-control in adolescents (r = ..., p < 0.05). This indicates that the higher a person's self-esteem, the better his self-control. Keywords: Self-esteem, Self-Control, Adolescents, Pearson Correlation Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-esteem dan kontrol diri pada remaja. Self-esteem merupakan evaluasi individu terhadap harga dirinya sendiri, sedangkan kontrol diri adalah kemampuan individu dalam mengendalikan impuls dan mengarahkan perilaku sesuai dengan norma sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 684 siswa SMK NEGERI 1 SALAM yang ditentukan menggunakan tabel Isaac & Michael (1981) dengan taraf kesalahan 5%. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan kriteria siswa berusia 15-18 tahun. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) sebanyak 10 item untuk mengukur self-esteem, serta Brief SelfControl Scale (BSCS) versi Indonesia sebanyak 10 item untuk mengukur kontrol diri. Self-esteem terdiri dari 2 dimensi utama, yaitu Self-Competence dan SelfLiking, sedangkan kontrol diri terdiri dari 2 dimensi utama, yaitu Penghambatan (Inhibition) dan Inisiasi (Initiation). Uji validitas dilakukan dengan metode Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), sedangkan uji reliabilitas menggunakan Cronbach’s Alpha. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji asumsi klasik, yaitu uji normalitas dan linearitas, serta uji hipotesis menggunakan korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara self-esteem dan kontrol diri pada remaja (r = ..., p < 0.05).
