Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the work environment on the performance of cleaning service staff in managing areas at British School Jakarta and to identify the most influential environmental factors. A quantitative approach was employed using surveys, observations, and interviews. Primary data were collected via a 24- item questionnaire administered to 37 cleaning service staff, while secondary data were obtained from internal documents and user complaints. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, Pearson correlation, partial t-test, and simultaneous F-test using SPSS 27. The results show mean scores of 3.51 (70.27 %) for work environment and 3.51 (70.27 %) for performance, both classified as “Good.” The Pearson correlation yielded r = 0.966 (p < 0.001), indicating a very strong positive relationship between work environment and staff performance. The t-test (t = 22.047; p = 0.01) and F-test (F = 486.077; p < 0.001) confirmed that the work environment significantly affects performance both partially and simultaneously. The key physical factors include proper lighting, temperature, ventilation, and adequate equipment and rest facilities; the key non-physical factors comprise harmonious coworker relationships, effective communication with supervisors, and a sufficient reward system. The study recommends enhancing both physical and non-physical environmental quality to support optimal performance of cleaning service staff. Keywords: Work Environment, Officer Performance, Cleaning Service, Quantitative Analysis, Influential Factors Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh lingkungan kerja terhadap kinerja petugas cleaning service dalam pengelolaan area di British School Jakarta serta mengidentifikasi faktor–faktor lingkungan kerja yang paling berpengaruh. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei, observasi, dan wawancara. Data primer dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner 24 item yang dibagikan kepada 37 petugas cleaning service, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari dokumen internal dan komplain pengguna. Analisis data meliputi uji validitas, reliabilitas, uji normalitas (Kolmogorov–Smirnov), uji korelasi Pearson, uji t (parsial), dan uji F (simultan) menggunakan SPSS 27. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata skor lingkungan kerja sebesar 3,51 (70,27 %) dan skor kinerja 3,51 (70,27 %), keduanya termasuk kategori “Baik”. Uji korelasi Pearson menghasilkan r = 0,966 (p < 0,001), menandakan hubungan yang sangat kuat dan positif antara kondisi lingkungan kerja dan kinerja petugas cleaning service. Uji t (t = 22,047; p = 0,01) dan uji F (F = 486,077; p < 0,001) mengonfirmasi bahwa variabel lingkungan kerja berpengaruh signifikan secara parsial maupun simultan terhadap kinerja. Faktor fisik terpenting meliputi pencahayaan, suhu, ventilasi, dan ketersediaan peralatan serta fasilitas istirahat; sedangkan faktor non-fisik terpenting adalah hubungan harmonis antar rekan kerja, komunikasi efektif dengan atasan, dan sistem penghargaan yang memadai. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan kualitas lingkungan fisik dan non-fisik untuk mendukung kinerja optimal petugas cleaning service.
