Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the effect of empathy on the tendency of prosocial behavior in junior high school X students. The respondents of this study were 100 people. This research instrument used the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) measuring tool with a total of 28 items (Davis, 1983) and Prosocial Tendencies Measurement (PTM) with a total of 23 items (Carlo & Randall, 2002). The sampling method used was saturated sampling, meaning that all populations were sampled. Data analysis used a simple linear regression technique to see whether empathy had an influence on the tendency of prosocial behavior. The results of this study indicate that empathy has a positive and significant effect on the tendency of prosocial behavior with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.279. The results of the t-test showed a coefficient value of 0.416 with a t-value of 6.162 and a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. The hypothesis in this study states that empathy influences the tendency of prosocial behavior in junior high school X students can be accepted. Keywords: empathy, tendency of prosocial behavior, adolescent Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh empati terhadap kecenderungan perilaku prososial pada siswa SMP X. Responden penelitian ini berjumlah 100 orang. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) dengan total 28 item (Davis, 1983) dan Prosocial Tendencies Measurement (PTM) dengan total 23 item (Carlo & Randall, 2002). Metode sampling yang digunakan menggunakan sampling jenuh, artinya semua populasi dijadikan sampel. Analisis data menggunakan teknik regresi linier sederhana untuk melihat apakah empati memiliki pengaruh terhadap kecenderungan perilaku prososial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa empati berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan terhadap kecenderungan perilaku prososial dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,279. Hasil dari uji t menunjukkan hasil nilai koefisien sebesar 0,416 dengan nilai t sebesar 6,162 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa empati berpengaruh terhadap kecenderungan perilaku prososial pada siswa SMP X dapat diterima.
