Abstract

This study is grounded in the issue of the low intensity of Father Involvement in childrearing, which may affect the development of adolescents’ emotional regulation. The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of Father Involvement on the emotional regulation ability of adolescents in Jakarta. The research method employed was qualitative. The respondents consisted of 183 adolescents aged 13–19 years, selected using accidental sampling. The instruments used in this study were the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and the Father Involvement Scale (FIS). The data were analyzed using Simple Linear Regression. The findings revealed that Father Involvement had a positive effect on adolescents’ emotional regulation by 30.6%. Thus, it can be concluded that the higher the father’s involvement, the better the adolescents’ emotional regulation. Fathers need to strengthen their emotional bond with adolescents.
