Abstract
Film is a form of mass communication capable of delivering various messages ranging from information, education, to entertainment that can shape audience perceptions of social reality. Among cinematic forms, the documentary holds a unique strength in capturing and representing real events through visual language. A documentary not only presents facts, but also conveys ideas and cultural values through a meaningful creative approach. The author focuses on the visual portrayal of a batik craftsman named Ang Dikin, a third-generation artisan from Trusmi, Cirebon. He continues the traditional craft of batik making independently, preserving the legacy passed down through his family. The documentary highlights his daily life, creative process, and the philosophical meaning of Trusmi batik as part of local cultural heritage. The role of the cameraman is crucial in visually documenting this reality. Through image composition, camera angles, lighting, and movement, the documentary’s visual structure strengthens both the narrative and emotional depth. With technical mastery and cinematic creativity, the cameraman contributes not only technically but also helps shape the meaning and message of the documentary. Keywords: documentary film, visualization, batik artisan, Trusmi, Ang Dikin Film merupakan media komunikasi massa yang mampu menyampaikan berbagai pesan, baik berupa informasi, edukasi, hingga hiburan, yang dapat memengaruhi pandangan audiens terhadap realitas sosial. Salah satu bentuk film yang memiliki kekuatan dalam menangkap dan merepresentasikan realitas adalah film dokumenter. Melalui bahasa visual, film dokumenter tidak hanya menyampaikan fakta, tetapi juga menjadi sarana penyampaian gagasan dan nilainilai budaya. Dokumenter juga merekam peristiwa nyata dengan pendekatan kreatif yang sarat makna. Dalam konteks ini, penulis mengangkat visualisasi tokoh seorang pembatik bernama Ang Dikin, seorang pengrajin batik asal Trusmi, Cirebon. Ia merupakan generasi ketiga pembatik yang meneruskan tradisi turun-temurun membatik secara mandiri. Film dokumenter ini menampilkan kehidupan, proses kerja, dan filosofi batik Trusmi sebagai bentuk pelestarian budaya lokal. Peran juru kamera menjadi penting dalam merekam dokumenter Ang Dikin Pembatik Trusmi ini secara visual. Melalui komposisi gambar, sudut pengambilan, pencahayaan, dan pergerakan kamera, visualisasi dalam film dokumenter dibangun untuk memperkuat narasi dan emosi cerita. Dengan penguasaan teknis dan kreativitas sinematik, juru kamera tidak hanya bertugas secara teknis tetapi juga turut membentuk makna dalam dokumenter.
