Abstract
This study aims to analyze the production time efficiency of Tamiya toy cars in the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory of Mercu Buana University using the Time and Motion Study method. The production process consists of ten workstations, and the measurement results indicate that the ideal standard time for production is 546.55 seconds. Further analysis identified four work elements that still experience waste, including long waiting times and inefficiencies in component alignment. This study proposes four improvement recommendations that have the potential to save up to 25.24 seconds of process time, achieving an efficiency of 92.55%. This study's contribution is significant in providing empirical evidence on the application of Time and Motion Study in the context of higher education, as well as providing practical guidance for improving laboratory operational efficiency. However, this study acknowledges limitations in the implementation of the proposed improvements, so further research is recommended to focus on the implementation and evaluation of the impact of the proposed kaizen strategy. Keywords: production time, efficiency, Time and Motion Study, laboratory, kaizen Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efisiensi waktu produksi mobil mainan Tamiya di Laboratorium Sistem Manufaktur Universitas Mercu Buana dengan menggunakan metode Time and Motion Study. Proses produksi terdiri dari sepuluh workstation, dan hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa waktu standar ideal untuk produksi adalah 546.55 detik. Analisis lebih lanjut mengidentifikasi empat elemen kerja yang masih mengalami pemborosan, termasuk waktu tunggu yang lama dan ketidakefisienan dalam penyelarasan komponen. Penelitian ini mengusulkan empat rekomendasi perbaikan yang berpotensi menghemat waktu proses hingga 25.24 detik, mencapai efisiensi 92.55%. Kontribusi penelitian ini signifikan dalam memberikan bukti empiris tentang penerapan Time and Motion Study dalam konteks pendidikan tinggi, serta memberikan panduan praktis untuk meningkatkan efisiensi operasional laboratorium. Meskipun demikian, penelitian ini mengakui keterbatasan dalam implementasi usulan perbaikan, sehingga penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk fokus pada penerapan dan evaluasi dampak dari strategi kaizen yang diusulkan.
