Abstract

This documentary tells the story of a police officer, IPDA Sulaiman Amir, in revitalizing Lake Cipeucang in East Bekasi District, which used to be a slum and prone to crime. This film not only highlights the process of physical and environmental transformation, but also shows how the active role of the police can become an agent of social change in society. Through a humanistic and participatory directing approach, this documentary describes communication strategies, cross-sector collaboration, and citizen participation in forming a new social culture that cares about the environment. The directing process is carried out with a three-act narrative structure, which includes the background of the problem and the initial condition of the lake, the actions and revitalization strategies carried out by IPDA Sulaiman, and the social and environmental impacts after revitalization. This study emphasizes how a director is able to build a strong, emotional, and educational narrative in raising social issues by utilizing audio-visual media. This documentary is expected to be an inspiration and model for the production of solution-oriented documentary films, as well as an effective promotional media in raising the role of the police positively in society. Keywords: Documentary Film, Directing, Police Image, Social Environment Film dokumenter ini mengisahkan upaya seorang anggota kepolisian, IPDA Sulaiman Amir, dalam merevitalisasi Danau Cipeucang di Kecamatan Bekasi Timur yang dulunya merupakan kawasan kumuh dan rawan kriminalitas. Film ini tidak hanya menyoroti proses transformasi fisik dan lingkungan, tetapi juga menampilkan bagaimana peran aktif kepolisian dapat menjadi agen perubahan sosial dalam masyarakat. Melalui pendekatan penyutradaraan yang humanis dan partisipatif, dokumenter ini menggambarkan strategi komunikasi, kolaborasi lintas sektor, serta partisipasi warga dalam membentuk kultur sosial baru yang peduli terhadap lingkungan. Proses penyutradaraan dilakukan dengan struktur naratif tiga babak, yang mencakup latar belakang masalah dan kondisi awal danau, aksi dan strategi revitalisasi yang dilakukan IPDA Sulaiman, serta dampak sosial dan lingkungan pascarevitalisasi. Penelitian ini menekankan bagaimana seorang sutradara mampu membangun narasi yang kuat, emosional, dan edukatif dalam mengangkat isu sosial dengan memanfaatkan media audio-visual. Dokumenter ini diharapkan menjadi inspirasi dan model produksi film dokumenter yang solutif, serta media promosi yang efektif dalam mengangkat peran kepolisian secara positif di tengah masyarakat.
