Abstract

Art: 1 New Museum Jakarta faces issues with uncontrolled natural lighting, ineffective spatial layout, and interior elements that affect the comfort of the exhibition space. The redesign focuses on optimizing lighting and spatial planning based on theories of natural and artificial lighting for art galleries (Lechner, 2007; SNI 03-6575-2001; IES Lighting Handbook) and theories of exhibition space planning and circulation (Mclean, 1993; Neufert, 1996), which prioritize visual comfort, artwork preservation, and smooth visitor flow. The design methodology includes literature studies, direct observation of the existing conditions, and case study analysis of other galleries. The design stages consist of data collection, analysis, concept development, detailed design, and evaluation. The results indicate that lighting in accordance with standards can enhance artwork visibility and appreciation, while spatial layouts designed with directed circulation improve the visitor experience. This design is expected to strengthen the gallery’s visual identity and serve as a reference for developing effective and sustainable art gallery interiors. Keywords: Interior Design, Art Gallery, Lighting, Spatial Planning, Art: 1 New Museum Art: 1 New Museum Jakarta memiliki permasalahan pada pencahayaan alami yang kurang terkontrol, tata ruang yang belum efektif, serta elemen interior yang memengaruhi kenyamanan ruang pamer.
